People often ask me where I get my talents for creativity and design. I actually get it from my mama! No Pun intended. When my mom first got the strength to walk away from an abusive marriage it took her some time but she finally got her first apartment and we were on our own. She was proud of herself and my brother and I were proud of her and happy to be back with our mom. She didn’t have much to start with. But with what she had she made the most of it. So as you can see she started with an accent wall and some wall decor behind us in the stairwell. What you can’t see is the living room decked out in a stylish low seated sofa with an amazing 60’s/70’s pattern paired with a wood coffee table and accent chair. My mom has an eye that’s only gotten better with time. She never followed trends. She walked, dressed and designed to the beat of her own drum. Exhibiting those traits to my brother and I empowered us to always think outside the box and to blaze our own trail. So as you watch my design journey keep in mind that my talent was/is nurtured by the legacy of the women who came before me. #rvadesigner #rvadesign #curated #expecttheunexpected #happywednesday by @nikomines
