Niloo thinks the thing that made her good was the thing she was most embarrassed by.

She came into UX as a trained sociologist and felt like she did not belong. So she asked questions, constantly. Why did we do this? How did we land here? Not to look clever, to catch up.

Years later she learned those messy questions had a name: service blueprints, user journeys. She was doing the work before she had the word for it.

The questions you ask because you feel behind are often the ones nobody else thinks to ask.

What do you think makes a product addictive?

For me a product that lacks it in your daily life is very noticeable, despite all the substitutes.
A product that adds so much value to your life & makes your life incredibly easier that it’s hard for you to replace it with any substitute. I’m sure we all have tones in our life. From smartphones, which became part of your daily life from the time you get up till you go to bed to your electronic toothbrush.
But the most addictive product for me lately besides many others is my AirPods. I had to give my AirPods for a replacement & a week without them made me feel so frustrated. I was pretty shocked 😳 that despite having 3 other good alternatives, I still didn’t feel satisfied and happy with what I’ve got. Lack of my AirPods were so tangible when for instance I was talking to my mom & I had to charge my phone at the same time. Or I missed them during my long hrs meetings when my neck was hurting from the weight of my Bose noise cancelling headphones 🎧
Are there really not enough alternatives for them? Of course, there are! But what’s wrong with the alternatives?

P.s: there are tons of equivalent to AirPods lately and I’m sure most of them are doing the same job. Here I’m not talking about the equivalents but rather alternatives.

It’s a crazy timing all over the world but I’m doing my best every day to stay as positive as possible. I’ve learned to switch my mindset & instead of saying what these days have done to me, asking what these days have for me? 💪🏼
What can I do or not do that leads me to get the most of it? 💪🏼.
🙏🏼 How can I make the next 3-6 something that I look back & treasure?
This madness is a great opportunity to develop resilience & grow some muscle for it.
✅ I’m bounding with the nature more than any time.
✅ I’m cooking healthy foods everyday.
✅ I’m doing some workout almost everyday.
✅ I‘m being more compassionate with people.
✅ I’m becoming more consistent with my meditation routine 🧘‍♀️.
🛑 But I should stop drinking every night 🍷 🙈.

We’ve heard that a lot from successful people. Never give up!
It’s for sure easier said than it’s done. But you have to grow a muscle and train yourself to stick around.
Don’t ever say I’ll start over, but begin again. You should have the courage to sort of tear everything down & rebuild from scratch when things don’t work. And remember anyone who isn’t embarrassed of who they were last year probably isn’t learning enough.

———————————————————Everybody says they want artists to make money, and then when they do, everybody hates them for it. 👉🏼If you have work you wanna attempt that requires some up-front capitals, platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo make it easy to run fund-raising campaigns with tiered rewards for donors.
👉🏼Beware of selling the things that you love. When people are asked to get out their wallets, you find out how much they really value what you do. 👉🏼Don’t be afraid to charge for your work, but put a price on it that you think is fair.
👉🏼 Keep A Mailing List. 👉🏼Even if you don’t have anything to sell right now, you should always be collecting email addresses from people who come across your work and want to stay in touch.

Most of the artists & designers or those who work as a creative, finding criticisms very harsh.
They are so bound with their work & it’s painful for them to take any criticism.
When you put your work out into the world, you have to be ready for the good, the bad, and the ugly.
👉🏼 Learn how to take the punches in the real world.
👉🏼 Having your work hated by certain people is a badge of honor.
👉🏼 But also be extra wary of feedback from anybody who falls outside of the circle of people who care about you and your work.
👉🏼 If you have work that is too sensitive or too close to you to be exposed to criticism, keep it hidden.
👉🏼 Compulsive avoidance of embarrassment is a form of suicide.

No matter how famous artists and celebrities get, the forward thinking artistself today aren’t just looking for fans or passive consumers of their work, they are looking for potential collaborators, or co-conspirators. .
👉🏼 If you want fans, you have to be a fan first. .
👉🏼 If you want to be accepted by a community, you have to first be a good citizen of that community. .
👉🏼 If you’re only pointing your own stuff online, you’re doing it wrong. You have to be a connector. .
👉🏼 If you want to get, you have to give. If you want to be noticed, you should have to notice. Shut up and listen one in a while. .
👉🏼 Don’t waste your time reading articles about how to get more followers. .
👉🏼 Don’t waste time following people online, just because you think it’ll get you somewhere. .
