Last week I was freaked out. The first time since years.

Together with @eline_lemenestrel , we reached the iconic Pic de Bure, by bike and hike. Since a while I had a route there in mind I wanted to try.
My lack of alpine climbing and the poor rock quality made the actual climbing into a personal nightmare. I constantly saw the pictures of my two daughters while climbing and I asked myself what the hell I’m doing there. This never happened to me and I got very very confused.

I’ve never been the strongest climber in the world but the reason why I’m still here is because I have a damn good gut feeling.
I felt guilty, but I asked Eline to turn around and to cycle back safe.

Maybe it’s a question of age but now with the kids, I’m not willing to take unnecessary risks anyway.

Reaching such a big mountain by train, bike and hike was it worth though.

I’m an @arcteryx athlete since 2009. Over those past 17 years, I pushed my limits constantly and so they did. We evolved together and worked hand in hand. Our partnership is based on mutual trust and experience.

There’s no more powerful way to start a 2 years trip then with an eclipse.

Yes, we did it: months and months of organizing, thinking, planning, doubting, working and freaking out, we’re finally on the road.
It took me so much courage to embark my 2 kids on this adventure called Andrea, a crazy project we created together with @jeremy_bernard_photography 6 years ago. It’s a project about travelling, climbing, meeting people and adding a little help when it’s needed.

The motivation to leave is definitely my big passion for adventure and my curiosity to see what the world has to offer. I always dreamed about a long trip with my family since I think it’s the best way to get familiar with other people, culture and landscapes.

4 days ago, just after the amazing eclipse, we finally personalized our truck with the @chrisbenchetler art, he specially made for the @andreabasecamp project. 🙏🙏🙏

I will share our roadbook a little later. But if you see us already on the road, come and say hello!

The @arcteryxacademy has become a beautiful event of contrasts:
Meeting my teammates in the quiet nature and meeting hundreds of people at the village in town.
The mountains reunite us.

“Climbing & Portaledge” introduced Arc’teryx Alpine Academy participants to the world of multi-pitch wall systems alongside Nina Caprez (@ninacaprez).

From setting up a portaledge and managing wall systems to spending the night suspended above the Chamonix valley, the clinic offered an unforgettable introduction to life on the wall.

The last 2 weeks I spent climbing in Chamonix. Over the last couple of years the mountain has changed drastically.
Now we have to climb the famous Madalton 7b roof crack in shorts. The south face of Aiguille du midi is burning.
Climat change is the most obvious in our dear mountains.
I’m wondering if my daughters will have the chance to climb here in a couple of years.

Thanks to all of you to be particular careful while moving in the mountains these days.

“Right now, it’s all about balancing the pressure of mommy-hood with climbing,” says Arc’teryx athlete Nina Caprez (@ninacaprez).

“I have this small amount of time to fit in the training — to get out on the rock. Maybe naps don’t happen or the kiddos are sick or it’s a rush to get dinner on the table and my climbing has to wait.”

“But if I keep putting in the effort, eventually everything will click, and I’ll feel that sensation of moving freely.”

“When it’s like this, the rewards are so much greater.”

I had the opportunity to climb for my very first time in the UK, at the beautiful Lake District.
4 days full of trad climbing, teaching and enjoying this outstanding landscape.

Thanks @arcteryx for offering such cool opportunities. The @arcteryxacademy has been one of the bests I’ve ever attempted! 🙏🙏🙏
