Nobody talks about what a PRISON it is to live with disordered eating.

The punishment, the hyper-critical eyes you see yourself through, the restriction, the feelings of failure after nearly every meal, the body shaming, the self-loathing, the hate, the guilt, the weight of the secret.

It wasn’t until I used love as a vehicle for change, and gave up the war against myself, that I started to become truly healthy. And truly FREE. 🕊️🔓

It didn’t happen overnight… but it did happen.

The work? Believing I was worthy of my own love.

Now I don’t *freak out* when I think about food anymore, and I allow myself to eat what I want, when I want… and unironically, loving myself has shifted the foods I choose to put into my body.

Working out is now a loving, appreciative act I show my body, instead of an act of intense punishment and retribution.

I talk nicely to my body, and send gratitude to her for never giving up on me, no matter how cruel I was to her.

Sending all my love out there to anyone struggling to find peace with their bodies and with eating.

You can do it!!

Love will lead you home ❤️

It’s been one week without you physically here Grandma Dorothy, but you’ve been with me.🫀

I’ve felt you in the sunsets, in the songs ‘randomly’ spilling out of car and restaurant windows, in the 11:11’s popping into my view, on the sparkle of the East River. In the silence. ✨

You were a woman of God, who loved a good long conversation and a good looking hat to wear to church. You were always up to watch a Warriors game or a late night movie, and I swear I’ll never have better catfish than yours. You kept your dignity and your beaming smile until the end, always refusing a hand to help you up so ‘you didn’t lose the legs the Lord gave you’. I’ll cherish every time I got to hold your hand, as a young soul walking around Hilltop mall in Richmond, to our last time together at the dining table in Bakersfield.

Your options, your access, your opportunities, your experiences as a young black woman were so radically different than mine and I’ve been thinking a lot about that. Thinking about the great gift you gave me of my father. Thinking about how I get to honor our bloodline and continue to collect moments + stories that make you both nod with pride and whisper, ‘that’s my Chrissy’.

The way I pray will always be different because of you. You called on the gratitude when you prayed. You called on the Love. The blessing of health, of good memories with the family, of inside jokes that had us cry-laughing. You thanked God for all of it.

I thank God for you.

It’s pretty strange to wrap words around your life and what it meant to mine. Maybe that’s because we’re speaking a different language now.
Even so… I’m sending an ‘I love you’ in every frequency, out into every dimension you can feel it. Spread it around to Papa Sam and Grandma Mattie too 🕊️

Rise high and rest easy Grandma Dorothy…

For starters we’ll have the longest, warmest hugs that relax the entire nervous system. For the main we’re splitting the deep-dive therapy soul chat AND the juicy, prayerful, life-vision manifestation session. We’ll likely save room for a side-quest dancing dessert adventure, and pleeeease make sure these glasses stay *overflowing* with laughter and gratitude for 10+ yrs of sisterhood🥂

The question was never, “does that dream vision I have for the most enjoyable, purposeful, aligned, exciting, love-filled LIFE for me really exist?”

Ofc it does. We know enough about quantum realities, the #lawofassumption, the power of prayer, and MIRACLES to understand that every possible reality is available to ALL OF US when we consciously and consistently align with the frequency of it.

The question then becomes: “Are you willing to hold an unshakeable belief in your big dreams? Do you have absolute faith that what is meant for you will arrive, right on time? Are you willing to take the action and put in the work that feels ‘uncomfortable’, but completely aligns with the person you know you’re meant to become? (pro-tip: 90% of people aren’t.) Are you willing to say ‘no’ to people/conversations/situationships/jobs that do not resonate with the frequency of your soul? Are you willing to LOVE your past — mistakes, scars, ‘fails’, warts and all — like never before, and give gratitude for every single thing that’s molded you into the miraculous human being you are today? Are you truly open to miracles? Are you open to God using you as a vessel for more love, more joy, more creativity, more tenderness, more inspiration, more peace on this planet?”
