Stockholm Craft Week is coming up and I am so happy that my piece Lilith & Psyche (chartreuse) will be exhibited among many great works by the members of Konsthantverkarna at Hallwylska museet.

The exhibition is called Speglingar Genom Tid and it is curated by Matilda Kästel and Helena Sandström.

Swinging at the Crossroads opens April 18 during Kulturnatten Stockholm 💫 It’s time for Konsttantverkarna’s second group exhibition, at Konsthallen ABC.

Bogil Lee, Lisa Hartwig Ericson, Linda Nurk, Lynn Stenvall and Nina Johansson explore bodies across glass, textile, weaving and sculpture—tracing how we shape, and are shaped by, worlds beyond ourselves.

Nina Johansson is a Stockholm-based artist whose practice moves between jewelry, costume, sculpture, and prop-making.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With a masters degree from Konstfack’s jewellery and corpus program, she creates synthetically fleshy forms primarily in silicone. Drawing from science fiction, pop culture, and nature’s own dramaturgy, her pieces carry a tactile, futuristic presence — intimate, playful, and always evolving.

What an opening! ✨ Our exhibition kicked off on Thursday night and will stay open all weekend, come by tomorrow between 12 -16 Bellmansgatan 22c.

We are happy and excited to present Nina Johansson - one of Swedens most progressive jewellers and object makers. Inspired by science fiction, posthumanist ideas and nature’s own dramaturgy, she creates a precarious whole that takes the form of synthetically fleshy jewellery and objects in silicone. In the exhibition Hardware/Softwear she presents both wearable objects and a fantastic collab with Sofia Geideby and Lamia Karic.

Behind the scenes footage from a photoshoot with @lannaolssonphotography 🦋🕷️

@martamattsson_jewellery and @ninajohanssonstudio have been wanting to collaborate for quite some time and found a perfect opportunity when they both were approached by photographer Lanna Olsson on Instagram. Lanna combined Ninas silicone pieces with Märtas new collection Drip Drop (soon to be exhibited at the new gallery @galleri_smedjan in Östersund) in a drippy water and fog inspired setting.

Thanks to models @li_stenmark @alaafia.mcc and @rudvallsigrid for being our muses and to makeup and hair stylist @flawless.faces__mua for an excellent job! ❤️🫶

The making of ”Next of Skin: Second Instar”. Working the way I do with my skins is slow, nerve-racking and honestly quite stupid. Each day I invent the wheel anew, and I never know how the piece is going to turn out until the very last minute. It leaves very little space for reflection during work, and is one reason why I often feel disconnected as I finish a piece. The dialogue ends quite abruptly, it’s a bit like getting hung up on.

Working on this piece also played a major part in some serious health issues and I ended up in surgery for a slipped disc in February. I’m all better now, but my perspectives have somewhat changed. With Next of Skin I tried to bite off more than I could chew, in more ways than one. I wanted to scale up and up.

Now I don’t know anymore. I feel that I’ve created a foundation. How to proceed, I’m not sure.
All I know: Life takes time.🌱

The second part of my installation at @kulturhusetstadsteatern consists of a video featuring performance artist Shirley Harthey Ubilla (@twirlyshirley)
Shirley is an amazing artist and no one else could have embodied my vision like they did. My idea was to make a silicone costume that looked different in different lights and for Shirley to move in it, thus becoming a hybrid creature, somewhere between human and animal. They did a spectacular job, above and beyond what I could have dreamed.

Unfortunately, due to poor time management and planning on my side, the video could not become all I wanted. (That there even is a video at all is due to the professionalism of @twirlyshirley, @hannakisch and @bogillee, who were all very patient and helpful. I owe them the world.)
I still love the video, but perhaps now I see it more as a first draft, a promise of what could come.
