Mola art is a vibrant, hand-made textile tradition created by the Guna (or Kuna) Indigenous women of Panama and Colombia. Utilizing a complex reverse appliqué technique, several layers of different-colored cloth are stitched together and cut away to form intricate, colorful designs, often depicting nature, animals, and geometric patterns.

Purpose: The term "mola" means "cloth" or "clothing," referring to the panels that form part of the traditional blouses worn by Guna women.

Cultural Significance: Molas are a key symbol of Guna identity and independence.

Cultural Preservation: During the 1925 Guna Revolution, the right to wear traditional molas was a central rallying point.

This subscription to Ms. Magazine was shared by two amazing women, neighbors living in Miami, Florida. These women were lifelines to each other and explored feminism and #empowerment together. The subscription was transformative for both. The #advertising, articles, and #design aspects are amazing to behold. The condition of these issues run from good to fair. The women are now in their 90s. Their daughters and granddaughters all benefited from this feminist legacy.
