A few more scenes from last week’s black-tie soirée, kindly shared with me by fellow guests.

I’m particularly pleased to include a photograph with @ninapoi , whose gracious hospitality and faith in the idea made the whole evening possible, and with Michele, who ensured that everyone was well looked-after throughout the night.

There’s also a cherished snapshot with @formalgents_attire , who travelled from Budapest to join not only the soirée itself but also our Friday and Sunday wanderings (more of those to come).

And lastly, the little gem of the evening: @francydalex and @tommasorovira taking a spirited turn across the floor… 💃🏻🕺🏻 entirely unbothered by the rather questionable fellow circulating with suspicious envelopes… ✉️

My dear friends, thank you most sincerely for the splendour of last Saturday.💫

I’ve been rather breathless since, what with Sunday’s wanderings through Rome – in the company of those brave enough to rise early the next morning – and a full working day yesterday. At last, today, I can pause long enough to send my gratitude.

You all looked marvellous and entered so wholeheartedly into the spirit of the evening.✨
Not even the tragic haircut I was landed with the day before the event could dim the delight of seeing the room filled with such elegance.🤩

My deepest thanks go to @ninapoi for believing in this little dream and welcoming us into the delightful Belle Époque room of @gusto_roma .🙏

Warm thanks, too, to Pierluca (@pierlucabuonfrate ) and the Italoamericana Trio (@fdggbs @giuliociani ), whose playing shaped the mood from first note to last.🎶 And to Pasquale Viscito (@the_fucking_bartender ), who crafted the evening’s cocktails with such refinement and introduced each with a touch of theatrical charm.🍸

A very special mention to Lorenzo (@kheliaal ), whose artwork – from poster to cocktail illustrations – gave the soirée its visual soul.

My heartfelt thanks to two dear friends who travelled especially for this black-tie weekend: @ersiliadalessandro , venturing north from enchanting Agropoli, and @formalgents_attire , joining us from Budapest, a city I hold in the highest affection after visiting it two years ago.

And last but not least, to all who were there and – between enjoying a cocktail, sharing a little dance, or testing their Gatsby knowledge in the trivia round – entered so fully into the spirit of the evening, making it a truly memorable one: thank you.💛

We shall do this again.🥂

Here is a small first glimpse of the evening. More will follow in the coming days.

✨Tonight, my dear friends, is the night.✨

In just a few hours, we step into the Belle Époque room of ‘Gusto for an evening shaped by Fitzgerald’s world.
A century after The Great Gatsby first appeared, we gather to honour it not with grand gestures, but with good company, fine music, thoughtful words, and a cocktails list revisiting the classics of Prohibition.

Our programme awaits:
• a brief reflection on Gatsby’s enduring spell;
• a lighter wander through the drinking culture of the 1920s;
• a mixology demonstration with Pasquale Viscito;
• live jazz drifting between readings;
• and, to close, a touch of friendly rivalry in the Gatsby trivia round – with a bottle of Champagne for the winner!

Black tie is encouraged – not as a costume, but as a small act of ceremony, a way of signalling that the ordinary has been set aside for something a little finer.

To all who are joining us: I can’t wait to raise a glass with you this evening.
To those following from afar, thank you for lending this little adventure your interest and goodwill.

Here’s to the night. 🥂 by @ninapoi

✨ One Hundred Years of Gatsby ✨
This autumn we gather in Rome to celebrate the centenary of The Great Gatsby – a novel that still whispers of glamour, longing, and the art of living well.

🍸 Saturday 15 November – in the belle époque rooms of ’Gusto, a black-tie soirée will unfold: a welcome glass of prosecco, an aperitivo rinforzato, the sparkle of conversation, and a prohibition-era cocktail in hand. Two short talks – on Fitzgerald’s enduring legacy and the spirits of Prohibition – will punctuate the evening, interwoven with readings and closing in a playful trivia for a bottle of Champagne.🍾

🏛️ Weekend programme – optional heritage walks, café and cocktail stops on Friday and Saturday daytime (with time to return and change), and Sunday morning will allow us to savour Rome at its most elegant.

💶 Tickets: €25 – payable on the night – including drinks, canapés, and all programme elements (except optional weekend activities).

🤵‍♂️👗🤵‍♀️ Suggested dress code: Black tie.

✍️ RSVP now via the link in bio – places are limited, and we should be delighted to welcome you.
