“THERE’S A PARTY GOING ON”
CHUCK BERRY 100 !!!

Here’s John “Rhino” Edwards promoting our show at Dingwalls this Sunday the 18th of October.
Along with Zak Starkey on Drums, Ben Waters on Piano, Tom Waters Saxophone and Johnny himself on Bass.
When Ben rang me about putting a rock n roll unit together for some fun, he gave me a few options on Bass and I said I’d love to play with John because of this story I’m gonna tell ya.
In 1978 John and I separately answered an advert in Melody Maker from a singer song writer, looking to put a band together to perform his songs live.
I turned up at the studio and met John for the first time.
We went through the guys songs but alas we both didn’t pass the audition. I went on with my career with Nine Below Zero.
The next time I saw John was on Top of the Pops playing with Judie Tzuke and then joining Status Quo.
We met again at some Quo shows in Broadstairs, Greenwich and then their last gig in Somerset two years ago. But now finely, we get to play together after 48years.

ZAK STARKEY
I first met Zak In 1981 at Olympic Studios when he came down with Kenny Jones to see us and Glyn Johns while we were recording Don’t Point your Finger. That’s the day that helped us get the dates with the Who. Also Zak was at some of those Who shows. The next time was in April 2001 at the Steve Marriott memorial concert at the Astoria, where he kindly gave me some drum sticks for my boys. Now we finally get to play together.

BEN WATERS
I can’t remember who introduced Ben and I but he played on our Hats Off album in 2004 and then joining NBZ at the Chuck Berry gig at the 100 club in March 2008. We then collaborated again on 13 Shades of Blue, Nine Below Zero’s first big band project.
And on Sax on that session was a 13 year old TOM WATERS, son of Ben.
As well as Chuck’s 100 Birthday on Sunday we’ll be celebrating Tom’s Birthday. @rhinos_revenge

NINE BELOW ZERO - 'Don't Point Your Finger'
45th Anniversary album Tour

Nine Below Zero formed in late 1979 from the ashes of Stan's Blues Band. An electrifying live group, the band chose to release their debut album 'Live at the Marquee' (A&M Records, 1980) to showcase the band's considerable talent. 'Live at the Marquee' featured mainly covers of Blues classics from artists such as Otis Rush, Muddy Waters, & Freddie King along with some Nine Below Zero originals. Over the years it has become widely acknowledged as one of the finest live albums ever recorded.

Nine Below Zero are one of the UK's finest Rhythm 'n' Blues groups. Named after the famous Sonny Boy Williamson song, Nine Below Zero have shared the stage with The Kinks, The Who, Chuck Berry, Eric Clapton, Squeeze, From The Jam and many more.

Their incredible harmonica player Mark Feltham is one of the most sought- after in the world with his career including performances for Oasis, Talk Talk, The The, Rory Gallagher, Annie Lennox and Rod Stewart.

Wat in 1977 begon in Zuidoost-Londen groeide uit tot een legendarische liveband, geroemd om hun energieke shows en rauwe, authentieke Rhythm & Blues. Met klassiekers als ‘11+11’, ‘Pack Fair and Square’ en ‘Three Times Enough’, en natuurlijk het legendarische livealbum Live at the Marquee, bouwde de band een cultstatus op.

Nine Below Zero tourde met The Who en The Kinks, stond op The Old Grey Whistle Test en The South Bank Show en maakte geschiedenis met een optreden van ‘11+11’ in de allereerste aflevering van de cultserie The Young Ones. Vijftig jaar later is de energie nog altijd springlevend. Verwacht een avond vol blues, soul, harmonica en pure livepower.
