Today I officially became a member of GFWC Sarasota, part of a worldwide organization of women dedicated to strengthening communities through service. 💙

I’m inspired to join women who have spent decades giving back and supporting wonderful organizations like Mothers Helping Mothers, Girls Inc., SPARCC and many more.

As I make Sarasota home, I’m grateful to have found such a meaningful way to give back. Thank you, Ms Sheila, for introducing me to this incredible group. What an amazing weekend. We went to St. Pete to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, and even though we live so close, I had never been! It’s been on my list of places to visit for the longest time, and I’m so glad we finally made it happen. What a beautiful place.

There was no big agenda, just the two of us sitting on the beach, watching the water, the birds, the people and the sky, and reminiscing about the last 30 years of our lives together.

Thirty years… so many memories. The places we’ve lived, the adventures we’ve had, raising our children, the laughter, the tears, the really good times and, yes, the difficult ones too. Somehow, sitting there by the water gave us the chance to slow down and remember just how much life we’ve lived together.

Sometimes you don’t need a fancy celebration. You just need a beautiful place, the person who has been beside you through it all, and a little time to look back and say… wow, we really did all that.

St. Pete, you were the perfect little getaway to celebrate 30 years of us. And if you’ve never been, put it on your list. We will definitely be back.

30 YEARS! Who’s counting, right? Apparently, I am! 😂 Thirty. Whole. Years. And what a ride it has been, literally and figuratively!

Our life together has taken us all over the world! We’ve packed and unpacked more houses than I care to remember, traveled together, had some incredible adventures, shared countless motorcycle rides, and somehow managed to raise two amazing children along the way.
We’ve had incredible highs and some pretty spectacular lows. We’ve laughed until we cried, argued, made up, driven each other completely bat shit crazy, loved each other, annoyed each other, grown together and sometimes grown in completely different directions before finding our way back again.

There have definitely been days when one or BOTH of us probably thought, “That’s it. I’m done!” 😂 And then there have been so many more days when giving up simply wasn’t an option.

We’ve weathered the storms, celebrated the good stuff, and somehow, through every move, every adventure, every disagreement, every challenge and every beautiful moment, we kept finding our way back to each other.

And now here we are… a little older, hopefully a little wiser, definitely grayer, with 30 years of memories behind us and, God willing, many more ahead.

Teddy, I have absolutely NO idea where the next 30 years will take us and judging by our track record, we could literally end up anywhere! 😂 But wherever life takes us next, I’m grateful for the life we’ve built, the family we created, the adventures we’ve shared, the motorcycle miles we’ve ridden, and every crazy road that somehow brought us right here to where we are at the moment.

I’ve been going back and forth about gray blending FOREVER! There were plenty of days when I wanted to grab a box of hair dye and say, “Enough of this aging gracefully nonsense!”

But somewhere along the way, my friends and family started loving my gray… and surprisingly, so did I!

The only thing driving me crazy was that dreaded line between my gray and darker hair. After visiting salons, asking around and overthinking it about 500 times, a dear friend introduced me to Briana.

She listened, explained everything, didn’t push me to overdo it, and kept it natural.

And voilà… this is me now! Still gray, still aging, still me, just MUCH better blended! 😂 And I love it.

I absolutely love seeing young creativity and entrepreneurship in action! My close friend’s granddaughter has started making these adorable key rings and bag charms, at such a young age, and I am so impressed by her. Truly. She’s creative, articulate, confident, and already such a little go-getter!

I absolutely LOVE the one she made especially for me, and I can’t wait to put it on my bag.

Another inspiring fashion show and beautifully curated collection brought women together in support of suicide prevention and Mothers Helping Mothers at the Unleash Your Impact event at The Vinoy.

Pink Sebastian Boutique was honored to collaborate with Mara, designer of Aerial Clothing, to create a powerful runway experience filled with confidence, courage, and style.

I never thought I’d be dusting off the cobwebs from my catwalk shoes and stepping onto a runway again at this stage of my life!

Since moving to Sarasota, I’ve now had the opportunity to walk in my second fashion show, this time for Unleash Your Brave, and I can’t begin to tell you what experiences like this have done for my confidence.

There are mornings when I look in the mirror and notice the grey hair, the wrinkles and all those little reminders that I’m not as young as I once was. And then something like this happens. I put on fabulous outfits (Thank you Mara), add a little sparkle, stand tall, walk that runway and think… girl, you’ve still got it! 🥰

But what makes these experiences even more meaningful is that they’re about so much more than fashion. Being able to have fun, meet wonderful people AND give back to our community through fundraising events supporting organizations like Mothers Helping Mothers and so many others, makes my heart incredibly happy.

A huge thank you to @pinksebastian941 for continuing to believe in me, trust me and give me these opportunities. It means more than you probably realize. And thank you to Mara for trusting us to showcase her beautiful designs.

Growing older is inevitable. Feeling old is optional. I’m embracing the grey, the wrinkles, the experiences, the confidence and every opportunity that comes my way. Here’s to continuing to show up, trying things that scare us a little, giving back, and remembering that there is no expiration date on feeling beautiful, confident and alive.
