🌿🔥Fire Cider Recipe✨

I’m fairly traditional when it comes to making fire cider, but it’s a recipe that you can make your own. Sometimes, I add elderberries, rosemary, or even jalapeño peppers to this. The ingredients are easy to find. The fire cider in this photo is the most basic version that I’m sharing below.
✨🔥✨
1/2 cup freshly grated horseradish
1/4 cup chopped garlic
1 large onion
1/2 cup freshly grated ginger
cayenne pepper
raw apple cider to cover
optional: rosemary, jalapeños, turmeric, elderberries, honey
✨🔥✨
Combine all ingredients (except sweeteners) in a quart-sized jar. If using a canning jar, put cloth or parchment paper between the metal parts to stop the metal from eroding. Keep this in a cool dark place for 4 - 6 weeks. Strain, and then sweeten to taste with honey.
✨🔥✨
Take a tablespoon of fire cider daily for general fall/winter wellness. It’s a great digestive aid. Take fire cider to help with cold symptoms, like clearing sinuses. You can also add fire cider to cooking, like stir fry or anything that could use some spicy, vinegary heat. Experiment with it to see what you like!

I’m in Reykjavík.
🌞🌻🌞
Being in Iceland for the Summer Solstice is so special! I’ll watch the “midnight sun,” but adjusting to all daylight for the next few days is going to be a challenge…
🌞🌻🌞
I hope that you are healthy and well everyday, and enjoy the official start of the summer season! Cheers and skál! taken in Reykjavík, Iceland by @nirvanakelly

Happy Mother’s Day!
🌙✨
This photo captures a beautiful moment, I think. When I was getting ready for the ceremony on my wedding day, my mother helped me prepare. She’s been part of every important moment of my life so far, and I am so grateful for every day that I get to spend with her. I’ve done so much with my mom, and we truly enjoy each other’s company. We’ve even gone on vacations together… for fun.
🌙✨
For many of us, Mother’s Day is a really hard holiday. If you’ve recently lost your mother, or don’t have a relationship with a mother for any reason, you’re on my mind today. Just remember, you have a whole universe of incredible women and femmes and mamas who love you. Oh, and the Earth mama too!

Starting in Fall 2021, I will be attending the University of Georgia to pursue an M.Ed in Educational Psychology. Also, starting this summer, I will begin serving as the Director of Equity and Inclusion at Pace Academy. If social justice in education is something that you’re interested in, please follow my new account, @nirvanatheteacher to keep up with the latest research on children’s cognition and the science behind how we learn. I’ll also use that account to explore culturally sustaining pedagogical practices and social justice in education.
✨✨✨
This is a really exciting time for me, and there has been so much change in a very short time, so it has been both beautiful and humbling. I’m looking forward to this next adventure!

✨💐Spring Body Oil💐✨
6 oz carrier oil
2 tbs dried lavender flowers
2 tbs dried rose petals
1 tbs dried calendula
10 drops lavender essential oil
20 drops rose essential oil
Add more floral oils or change this as you’d like
🌿✨🌿
Combine dried herbs and carrier oil in a mason jar for 2 - 4 weeks. Strain them and put them in a dark blue or amber dropper bottle with essential oils. Will last at least six months.
✨💐✨
Add dried herbs and carrier to a mason jar and put it in a pot of water on the stove. Or, you can use a double boiler If you use rose petals, use them first and boil for 10 minutes. Strain this and add the other herbs and bring just under a boil for 2 - 6 hours. Water should not mix with this. Strain, add essential oils, and put in dark blue or amber dropper bottles.
✨🌸🌺🌼🌷✨
