REVIEW 👀

📚 Blurb:

Dawn Glver has spent decades trying to escape the fire that killed her little sister. Now living in a quiet coastal town if Dalkey with her husband, Adam, she has built the life she always wanted. However, when Maeve, a troubled young woman with too many inconsistencies, enters her yoga studio, Dawn senses danger no-one else sees. As Maeve's unsettling knowledge of Dawn's family grows and her son brings home news that shatters the calm,
Dawn's carefully build world begins to unravel.

💭 My thoughts:

Phillip has done it again - thank you! I am never disappointed by your books!

Told from 2 POVs (Dawn and Maeve) in 6 parts over 1 timeline, this book was fastpaced, gripping, easy to read - definitely a page turner!

Remind me never to get married and gain a mother in law 😂🙄👀

I was hooked from the very beginning. I love a book with short chapters - I really flew through it. My opinion on the characters kept changing throughout and it wasn't until the end when I knew who to really trust! The twists kept coming throughout and the suspense was a killer!

I recommended that you give it a read - you will not be disappointed!

⭐️ Publication date: 23rd July 2026 ⭐️

Thank you to Phillip Anthony Smith for the early ARC copy 🫶🏻 I always appreciate being chosen to read and review your books early! by @nisbook.shelf

📚 Blurb:

Nina Stevenson is barely keeping it together.

Stuck in a cramped flat with a boyfriend going nowhere, scrubbing other people houses for cash in hand and running out of options fast, a car crash on a wet Manchester road is the last thing she needs.

But the woman she hits isn't angry. She's charming, generous and impossibly composed. Florence Harrow is everything Nina isn't: wealthy, confident and utterly in control. When she offers Nina work, real work, not just another thankless cleaning job, it feels like the lifeline she's been waiting for.

Florence draws Nina into her world of beautiful homes, powerful connections and a friendship that makes her feel seen for the first time in years. But the closer Nina gets, the more she begins to suspect that Florence's kindness comes at a price and that the elegant life she's been invited into isbuilt on something far darker than she ever imagined.

By the time Nina understands what she's really involved in, walking away isn't an option. The only way out is through and it will cost her everything she has left.

💭 My thoughts:

@philipsmithfiction has done it again! We can always rely on him to provide us with great books!

Told from predominately 1 POV in 4 parts over 1 timeline, this book was fastpaced, gripping, easy to read and page turning. It contained some tricky topics but was written very well. It had me hooked from the very start!

There were a lot of similarities with The Housemaid and I couldn't help but keep thinking about it throughout; I wish Nina had a different name! However, despite this, it was a very enjoyable read!

I loved all of the twists and I didn't see any of them coming. I like how they were slotted throughout the book and not just all at the end. Also, I liked the way part 4 went back and told the story from another character's perspective to ensure we really understood the story.

I recommended that you give it a read - you will not be disappointed!

Which is the book that you will never stop recommending? ✨️

Verity by @colleenhoover is mine!

This is the book of ALLLLLLLL books!!! And I will argue with anyone that tell me otherwise 😂

This book got me out of a 6 year reading slump. It was AMAZING!! I wish I could read it again and be just as shocked the 2nd time. I won't forget that feeling! 🤯

I always recommend this book to anyone wanting to get into reading. I'm running out of people to recommend it to though as it's so good everyone seems to already know about it 👀

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 - always my go to Christmas read!

I love this series by Alex Pine. Don't get me wrong, they aren't the best set of thriller books ever written but they are so easy to read and they have interesting story lines.

This is book 2 in the series. I have read number 1 and number 4 😂 (I read 4 first - I didn't realise it was a series 🫠). They can all be read standalone too!

They are well written, from the perspective of the main character DI James Walker who is a detective in a very small village in Cumbria. They get me hooked from the start and there are always twists and turns throughout that leave me needing to get to the end of the book!

If you need an easy to read Christmas thriller, then this is your series!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I loved it!

A deliciously dark, hilariously twisted story about friendship, love, and murder.

Just to clarify.. I do not agree with what Kitty does but I can totally see why she does it 😂

This book was so fun and easy to read. Although it has a lot of gore and dark parts, it was humorous and full or irony.

I really liked Kitty's character in the book. I loved all of the twists especially the one at the end and I cannot wait to continue with the rest of the series!

I definitely recommend reading this book if you haven't already! taken in Nottingham, United Kingdom by @nisbook.shelf

⭐️⭐️⭐️ - clever but confusing!

This is the only book that I have read by Gillian McAllister and I was so excited to get stuck in as I have heard such good things about her!

This book is so cleverly written. It is a time-travelling thriller with lots of twists and turns. The story line was also intriguing and it did have me hooked from the start. However, I was so very confused throughout. I really had to pay close attention and I kept having to go back and check things.

Although it was well written and a fab idea, it just wasn't for me! I do recommend reading it though as it might be right up your street! taken in Nottingham, United Kingdom by @nisbook.shelf
