You’re busy, but are you profitable?
AI salon management software
for bookings, business + profit.
Built by a hairdresser, not a tech bro 😎

POSTS STORIES REELS

$411 in cancellation fees. In ONE week. 🤯

And the funny thing? I never used to charge booking fees because I was worried my clients wouldn’t pay them.

Turns out, they absolutely will.

That’s $411 that would have otherwise been lost revenue. And it’s exactly why understanding your numbers is so important.

Every week, I sit down and review my team’s performance individually. Not just how much revenue they’ve generated, but what it’s actually costing the business to generate that revenue.

I’m looking at:

* Revenue generated per team member
* Product costs
* Wages
* Service gross profit
* Wage-to-revenue percentages

Because being busy and being profitable are two very different things.

As a general benchmark, I like to aim for around 30% wage-to-revenue, depending on the business model. Why? Because that revenue still needs to cover your products, rent, software, insurance, superannuation and every other expense that comes with running a business.

And ideally, after all of that, there should actually be some profit left for YOU.

You can have a fully booked team generating incredible revenue, but if you’re not tracking what it costs to deliver those services, how do you actually know whether you’re making money?

Revenue is exciting. Profit is what keeps you in business.

If you’re a salon owner, here’s your reminder to stop just looking at how much money is coming in and start understanding how much you’re actually keeping. 🤍

I built a business doing over $3 million a year and still couldn’t tell you, at a glance, what we were actually taking home 🥴

I could see sales. Appointments. Team performance. Revenue.

But if I wanted to know what was left after wages, super and the actual product used to perform the service? I had to work it out myself.

And I kept thinking… why?

Why can my booking system tell me how busy we are, but not whether the appointment we just booked is actually profitable?

Why can’t I see what each service or each team member is really making me?

Why can’t I see my wage-to-revenue percentage changing in real time?

Why am I running a multimillion dollar business and still pulling numbers from different systems into a spreadsheet just to understand what’s actually going on?

That frustration is a huge part of why I started building Nisha.

I don’t want another booking system that just helps businesses get busier.

I want to build one that helps business owners make better decisions - because they finally understand their numbers.

Revenue looks good. But profit builds businesses that last

Comment PROFIT and I’ll send you the Nisha waitlist.

I mean - did I just WINK with both eyes 😂 my brain is tired

Nisha is growing FAST and we’re only just getting started! 🥹💜

One thing we promised from day one was that we’d actually LISTEN to the businesses using Nisha, and I think it’s safe to say we’re delivering!

We’re currently building over 75% of the feature requests coming through, with some updates going from request to LIVE in as little as 36 hours! 🤯

Here’s just a little of what’s new (and what’s coming 👀):

✨ We’re GLOBAL! Nisha is available in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the US and beyond!

✨ Independent stylists can connect their own Stripe accounts to receive their booking fees directly.

✨ Individual retail tracking — assign product sales to team members for more accurate KPI reporting.

✨ Online storefront — sell retail products, gift cards and prepaid series directly through your website.

✨ Plus SO many more improvements, features and little tweaks requested by YOU!

We’re not building Nisha based on what we think salon owners need. We’re building it alongside the people actually running these businesses every single day.

So please, KEEP THE FEATURE REQUESTS COMING! We genuinely read them, review them and build as many as we can.

And trust me, what we’re working on behind the scenes is even more exciting. 🥹

This is just the beginning! 💜

At this point I think adding features is my love language and marketing is my toxic trait 😂
Forever finding just one more thing to make Nisha better. Someone take my laptop/s away x

You shouldn’t need a business degree to understand your own business. 🤍

When I built Nisha’s reports, one of my biggest priorities was making sure business owners could actually understand what they were looking at, without feeling overwhelmed by numbers, percentages and metrics they’ve never heard of.

That’s why we’ve broken everything down into Financials, Bookings and Efficiency, with three different views: Simple, Intermediate and Advanced.

Whether you’re just starting to learn your numbers or you’re ready to dive into the finer details, Nisha grows with you.

Because you can’t improve what you don’t understand.

And that’s exactly what we’re on a mission to change. Helping more business owners become financially literate, make confident decisions and build businesses that are actually profitable. 🫶🏽

She’s a work in progress 😂 BTS of my day to day with 15 browser tabs open in my brain.

Having the creative freedom to customise my own salon software is SO FUN! Especially in an era of AI.

I’ve very quickly learnt, if I can think it, I can BUILD it. 🙈 not without a lot of iterations, logic and time… but still FUN

Love having you all here for the ride

STOP COPYING YOUR COMPETITORS’ PRICING. 👏🏼

Your competitors don’t have the same overheads, wage costs, product costs or income goals as you. So why are you charging the same prices?

One of my absolute favourite features inside Nisha is our Income & Targets.

We reverse engineer YOUR income goals to calculate exactly what your business needs to earn per hour to be profitable.

Then we analyse your individual services, factoring in your costs, time and profitability, so you can see whether your pricing is actually working for you.

Because being fully booked means absolutely nothing if you’re not making money.

Stop pricing based on what everyone else is charging. Start pricing based on what YOUR business needs to earn.

This is exactly why I built Nisha. 🤍

Imagine knowing exactly how much product you’re using, wasting AND profiting from every service. 👀

Meet the Nisha Scale Station ⚖️

Built directly into your Nisha platform, our Scale Station takes the guesswork out of your product costs.

✨ Automatically tracks and records product usage
✨ Monitors product wastage
✨ Calculates your product costs
✨ Tracks your service profitability in real time

Because knowing what you’re charging is one thing… but knowing what you’re actually making is everything.

Less waste. More profit. Smarter business decisions.

This is what happens when your booking system does more than just take bookings.

Welcome to Nisha. 🤍

A little BTS of what our days look like at the moment 🤪

3 companies. 3 kids. And a whole lotta chaos

One minute we’re talking hair extensions, the next we’re deep in software development, fixing bugs, answering emails and dreaming up the next big thing.

It’s chaotic, it’s a lot of work, but I genuinely wouldn’t have it any other way.

Just two people with some pretty big dreams, figuring it out as we go. 🥹

Thanks for believing in me & my crazy ideas ❤️I couldn’t do it without you! @samuelreecedougall by @nisha.appointments

Just because a service brings in money, doesn’t mean it’s actually making you money. 👀

I recently went through the profitability of all 94 services in my salon and discovered that 20 of them were performing below my target.

And the scary part? Without Nisha, I probably wouldn’t have known.

When you factor in your staff wages, product costs and the time it takes to perform each service, the numbers can tell a very different story.

This is exactly why I built Nisha.

Not just to manage appointments, but to help business owners actually understand their numbers, identify where they’re losing potential profit and make smarter pricing decisions.

Because being busy and being profitable are two very different things.

You can’t improve what you aren’t measuring. 🤍
