🚨 THE NISSAN THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN BUILT! 🇯🇵🔥

Let’s rewind to 2013. Nissan was about to break the internet before breaking the internet was even a thing.

Enter the Nissan IDx and IDx NISMO. Two retro-inspired, rear-wheel-drive sports car concepts that looked like the legendary Datsun 510 had traveled into the future and joined a gym. 😍

Unveiled at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, the IDx Freeflow was the stylish, understated street car, while the IDx NISMO was its absolutely unhinged motorsports-loving sibling.

Inspired by Nissan’s legendary BRE racing heritage, the NISMO featured aggressive aero, carbon fiber, side-exit exhaust, 19-inch wheels, and a proposed turbocharged 1.6-liter engine. Think modern-day Datsun 510 with a serious attitude problem.

The idea? Give enthusiasts an affordable, lightweight, rear-wheel-drive sports car to rival the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ.

AND PEOPLE ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT.

Nissan even teased the possibility of production, and for a moment, it looked like enthusiasts might actually get the affordable, retro-inspired Nissan sports car they’d been begging for.

But then… nothing. 💀

Production costs, manufacturing challenges, and questions about whether enough people would actually buy one reportedly helped kill the dream. By the middle of the decade, the IDx had quietly disappeared from Nissan’s future plans.

And here’s the part that still hurts me…

WE NEVER GOT TO SEE WHAT THIS THING COULD HAVE BECOME.

Imagine an affordable, rear-wheel-drive, turbocharged Nissan coupe with a proper six-speed manual, NISMO performance parts, and styling inspired by one of the greatest eras in Japanese motorsports.

This wasn’t just another concept car. It was a love letter to Nissan’s heritage and a glimpse of what affordable enthusiast cars could look like.

Thirteen years later, I still think Nissan missed a massive opportunity.

The bumpers are hanging lower than the standards, the CVTs are fighting for their lives, and somehow EVERY ONE OF THEM has 5% tint and a steering wheel covered in rhinestones. 💎

You already KNOW the champagne Altima belongs to a girl named Destiny who’s actually named Brittany and has a 29% APR. 😭

🚨 WHEN YOU ORDER A SKYLINE GT-R FROM TEMU AND A CHEVY IMPALA SHOWS UP. 💀😭

BROOOOO. WHO APPROVED THIS?! 😂

Imagine telling everyone you drive a legendary Japanese performance car, only to pull up in something that looks like an R34 GT-R had a one-night stand with a Chevy Malibu behind an Applebee’s in 2003. 💀

From a distance? GODZILLA. 🦖

Up close? GOD PLEASE NO. 😭

One has an RB26, legendary AWD, and a racing pedigree.

The other has a 3800 V6, a check engine light that’s been on since the Bush administration, and a trunk full of unpaid parking tickets. 💀

One was built to dominate racetracks.

The other was built to dominate the parking lot outside a probation office. 🚔

SKYLINE GT-R: FAST & FURIOUS.

CHEVY IMPALA: SLOW & CURIOUS. 🤣

And the worst part? After three gas station energy drinks and a questionable Craigslist body kit, I CAN KIND OF SEE IT. 😭

I AM SHOOK. 😂

An old-school Toyota Tacoma.

Cool. Simple. Reliable. Probably driven 437,000 miles on three oil changes and a prayer.

BUT THEN SOMEONE PUT AN R35 GT-R ENGINE IN IT.

AND A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. 🤯🤯🤯

Excuse me… WHAT?!

This is the kind of automotive nonsense I wholeheartedly support. Take a truck that was designed to haul mulch from Home Depot and give it the heart of GODZILLA. 🦖

And somehow the craziest part is they kept THREE PEDALS.

R35 POWER + MANUAL + OLD TACOMA = absolutely unhinged perfection.

Toyota body.
Nissan heart.
Manual transmission.

The internet is about to need couples counseling. 😂

CIVIC TYPE R vs. INTEGRA TYPE S 😂

I’m convinced the Integra Type S is basically the automotive equivalent of Bigfoot.

Honda swears it exists.
People online claim they’ve seen one.
I think I’ve personally seen ONE in the wild. 😂

And that’s the problem…

Put a Civic Type R and an Integra Type S next to each other and tell someone they can take ONE home.

9 out of 10 people are grabbing the Type R keys.

The Type S isn’t bad. At all. It’s basically a Type R that went to Nordstrom, bought a nicer outfit, learned some manners and started correcting people when they call it a Honda.

Meanwhile the Type R looks like it just left a track day, owes somebody money and is ready to make terrible financial decisions. 😂

Type S: “I’m the mature, sophisticated choice.”
Type R: “COOL STORY. GET IN.”

Same basic recipe. Two completely different personalities.

And somehow one of them is EVERYWHERE while the other feels like a limited-edition Pokémon.

So you’ve got both keys sitting on the table…
