Our sweet boy Nitro crossed the rainbow bridge on Friday. 🌈🤍 Just a few weeks ago, we were celebrating his 6th birthday. I never imagined it would be our last. He left us peacefully, doing what he loved most, lounging on his pool chair, soaking in the sun, tennis ball by his side. It was the most “Nitro” way he could have said goodbye.

Nitro wasn’t the most cuddly dog, but he was always there. My shadow. My calm. My sense of safety. When he wanted love, he’d come over, nudge your hand just right for head scratches, and melt you with those big eyes. He was strong, stoic, and stubborn, but underneath it all, he was the biggest baby. And if you knew him, you knew how soft his heart truly was.

Sweet, silly, and fiercely loyal. The Tennis Ball Master, always trying to fit two (sometimes three!) in his mouth. He loved tug-of-war and sounded like a grizzly bear, but it was all in fun. That deep rottie rumble will truly be missed.

Nitro was also the best big brother to Enzo. Protective, proud, sometimes annoyed, but always loving in his own Nitro way. Watching the two of them together was a joy I’ll carry with me forever.

It hurts so much knowing I won’t have my sunbathing, poolside lounging buddy this summer. We both lived for the sunshine. But I’m so grateful for these last two weeks we got to spend together, doing all the things he loved most.

Thank you to everyone who’s loved and followed Nitro over the years, you’ve laughed with us, cheered him on, and helped celebrate the special dog he was.

Rest easy, my big sweet potato. You gave me more love than I could ever repay. I’ll carry you with me, always. ☀️🎾💦🐾🖤

It’s been three weeks without you, Nitro, and the house feels so quiet Summer Fridays hit the hardest, those were ℴ𝓊𝓇 thing. Thank you to everyone who has reached out, shared kind words, and even sent thoughtful gifts, it’s brought comfort during a time that still doesn’t feel real.

The house feels different. Enzo’s been pretty quiet too, but yesterday he actually wanted to play fetch, and we played for a long time. For a minute, it felt a little lighter. I still catch myself grabbing two treats instead of one, it’s like my brain forgets for a second.

Last weekend there was a parade right on our street, so many fire trucks. You would’ve lost your mind, awooing like crazy the way you always did when you heard sirens. Enzo enjoyed it for both of you; he even got to see some horses.

Happy 6th Birthday Enzo! 🎉🥳💚💦

I can’t believe you’re six today, my smart, goofy, playful, cutesy potato.

This year has been rough. It’s been a year since we lost your brother Nitro, and I know you’ve felt it too. It’s been hard, but we’re figuring it out together.

Last summer, your leg injury kept you from playing with the hose and getting wet like you love to. So this year, I made a promise to myself: you were going to have the best summer of your life. Hose time, splash pool, sprinklers, all the water you could ask for, just watching you play made all the hard stuff a little easier to carry.

Even with so much changing this year, you’ve never been short on love. Grandpaw has become your best friend, and you’ve had visitors all summer, everyone showing up to spoil you and remind you that you’re never really alone. These past few months, our bond has grown even stronger, which has made taking care of you so much easier.

It’s strange turning six. Nitro was six when he left us, and that thought sits heavy. But you are healthy, you are happy, you are so loved. Here’s to many, many more birthdays, more hose days, more a-woos, and more of that puppy energy that never seems to fade.
