‘The Sun Shines Brighter Without You’ 70 x 51cm (72.5 x 53.5cm) Blood on Printmaking Paper This work unveils the final stage of grief following the aftermath of a relationship. Time has passed, and wounds have healed. The sun has risen once again, and like the change of days, so have new opportunists and lovers. The sun is warm and new and falling in love again is a comforting and beautiful thing. However the brightness is startling, the wounds are not forgotten, you hide your wholeness at the fear of being betrayed once again. But like clockwork, you wake in the morning light and test the trial of existing once again, for love is worth the attempt. . . . . #art #artist #blood #bloodwork #drawing #emerging #sun #healing #love by @nixart_98

Absolutely honoured to have my work ‘Love at Midnight: blood edition’ selected for the JADA prize! Come swing by the opening on Friday the 27th of September @grafton_regional_gallery ❤️ ‘Love at Midnight: Blood edition, features a restful moment between myself and my partner inside our home at midnight. I wanted to play with the idea of portraying comfort and slumber amongst two figures to depict complete vulnerability and trust between lovers. But simultaneously, I aimed to have an underlying hue of obsessiveness and protectiveness that comes with such love, the unshakable urge to defend a strong, heartfelt relationship whenever any threat emerges. It struck me to experiment with the use of my blood as medium, and place direct symbolism of my love onto paper, to represent my own sacrifice and devotion to who I am fated to be with. I find a sincere beauty within abject concepts, and feel strongly that this representation conveys both the wondrous and the intrusive elements of romance.’ @grafton_regional_gallery #jadaprize #graftonregionalgallery #jacarandaaquisitivedrawingaward #blood #drawing #2024 #art #emergingartist by @nixart_98

‘Share with me (in blood)’ 75.5 x 56.5cm Blood on Printmaking Paper 🩸🩸🩸 Stoked to have worked on a new blood piece and learn so much new information about how the medium works✨ It feels relieving to make work that’s meaningful and symbolic again, and I’m excited to share more with everyone along the way❤️ . . . . #blood #art #artist #emerging #drawing #symbolism #sunlight #2024 #bpd #bloodwork by @nixart_98

‘Metamorphosis I’ 121 x 91cm Metamorphosis 1 entails a story of self discovery and transformation. Through trauma, one is forced into survival mode, a decision between fight or flight. The symbolism of the dog in this is to represent our natural, animalistic instinct, our intuition and the subconscious rage which resides in us all, particularly from the feminine perspective. We are constantly at war with the world and people around us, even if it is not suspected. For this purpose, one must be on guard, both protective and defensive. This transformational process following continuous trauma or a traumatic event, leads one to either falter to their worst, or thrive someone into their best form. But one cannot live without the other, and with the duality of this concept of good and evil self in mind, it is imperative to nurture both, as both personas existed and will always be one with your being. . . . . #painting #art #artist #oil #figurative #symbolism #storytelling #dog #red #rage #duality #emerging by @nixart_98

It was an honour to be gifted the early career award from @grafton_regional_gallery at the JADA prize❤️ And I am grateful to be amongst such wonderful artists and finalists in this spectacular exhibition. This work has become a powerful symbol of love and destruction more than I could ever imagine. It reached a further stage metamorphosis after grieving the loss of a relationship. The medium itself will fade with time, like a memory fleeting. But it will always remain visible and recognisable as a symbol of sacrifice, my own sacrifices. Something everyone at some point in their life will resonate with. Love is for those who put their entirety into one another, destruction is for those who cannot. My work will always encompass duality and dual purpose, and these themes for this work cannot exist without the other. . . . . #jada #drawing #prize #2024 #blood #paper #grief #love #destruction #symbolism by @nixart_98
