Finally - the Phoenician in all his wretched glory is done! Decent project but glad to draw a line under it and move on. This is the third version of Fulgrim I’ve worked on from 30K to 40K.

There are some things I’d maybe have changed but the one thing I’m really happy with is how the floating demon faces concept turned out - it felt wrong not using them all and while I’d considered magnets etc I played around with this idea (thanks to the Drukhari bitz box I have). Speaking of which, I also added some chains and skulls the Drukhari range for good measure.

I also tried to go for a cracked make up sort of look, didn’t quite pan out how I’d have liked but hey ho, good to experiment.

Anyway, now it’s onto the rest of the Emperor’s Children pile of shame 😄

A little bit of a repost here - but this time with completed display plinth for an upcoming local competition. Good fun to pull it all together to this stage - now just to decide what to do next (it should probably be more Emperor’s Children!)

I had considered adding a named plaque but ran out of time to get an order in so I opted for using one of the larger decals from the FW Emperor’s Children sheet.

Absolutely delighted to call a finish to Fulgrim Transfigured. I loved painting this - such an imposing model, beautiful details and lots you could do to set a scene. I took some inspiration for the skin tones from @lillegend_studio ‘s wonderful version and the glow effects were from some of @elminiaturista ‘s great tutorials too. Check out their Patreon’s if you get the chance!

I learned a lot painting this and would approach things slightly differently if I was to attempt it again (unlikely to be fair).

I cannot WAIT to see the 40K version when it comes. It will be a pre-order for sure.

Now… who can teach me how to take better photos on an iPhone 15 Pro? I don’t have the right set up for a wingspan like that 😂

Before and after - happier with how it’s looking. Probably too much blue but hey ho. Onwards! May come back and refine it a little more through the project.

Any tips on how you’d improve it appreciated! Probably needs some secondary reflections :)

Lagertha update! Hair progressed, axe blade started, clothing colour change. Progress is being made slowly but surely :) @nutsplanet Shieldmaiden is a real challenge!

Inspired by @ninj0n ‘s Deck of Many Colours (card 49 artwork by Andrea Uderzo) I dug out this old mini that’s been sitting on the shelf for years, I think it’s from Infinity.

Anyway it was nice to limit the palette, work with mixes and end up with a scheme I wouldn’t normally have chosen. Few lessons learned, the blue I chose wasn’t all that vibrant so it’s a little lost in the finished result.

The cards sort of push you to explore blending techniques and NMM to a point as naturally you don’t select metallics. You easily could to speed up the process but it’s good to try new things as well.

Looking forward to the next test :)

Spent a while working on her hair, I’m gonna redo the clothing to break up all the beige/sandy shades.

Feels like the hair is missing something, maybe just needs more layers and blending in places. Back left mostly in shadow as there’s a big ass shield to go on. by @njcminiatures

Like others, the hype after #ironthistle2026 is still going strong so having completed a bust yesterday I’ve dig out my old version of The Shieldmaiden by #nutsplanet - I bought her in 2017 and dabbled with the paint job on and off until 2024. Decided to do a bit of a glow up on the skin so it’s a WIP.

I previously used Scale 75, which is a strange paint to get used to given the medium in the paint. I prefer the ease of Vallejo and Citadel paints for mixing :)

Anyway…. Let’s see if I can actually finally finish this piece!

On the plus side it’s great to see how my blending has improved!

Finished this lovely academic piece by @cultofpaint . It was really fun to work on and @andywardle_artwork tutorial on YT was so helpful to follow. Definitely keen to try more busts now, this was a really nice change of pace from the usual models I do :)

Still need to work on my miniature photography ;)

A fun day at #ironthistle2026- some fantastic minis on display! I was lucky to take away a pin for Fulgrim and what I think is some sort of recognition award for Eisenhorn. Congrats to all the category winners, very inspirational!

And nice to catch up with the community :)

Thanks to @alexpaintstinythings and the rest of the team for hosting a great event (and the painting class Alex!)

Looking forward to next year - better get planning! 😂

Really enjoyed bringing this display piece together for Eisenhorn. Inspired by @dabnett series I had to get this mini out the pile of shame and get him painted!

All the while the soundtrack to the Lord Inquisitor by @adam_harvey_music was on repeat through my head haha.

I kitbashed the ‘corridor’ using old Rhino parts, ammo box lids, the base for Eisenhorn himself and experimented with perspective to try and make it look like he’s walking along a corridor, pursuing whatever has crashed/shot/clawed its way through the doors.

Lots of fun, onto the next project!

#workinprogress It’s coming together slowly, will see how the final effect looks soon enough and be able to move onto Eisenhorn then :) #eisenhorn #paintingwarhammer #warhammer40k #inquisitor by @njcminiatures
