Shower time called and we didn't have a washcloth… so we made one. 🧵

Kids are simple people... sometimes... lol. You'll find that simple things make them happy. Make them feel accomplished.

Allow your kids the ability to rejoice over little wins. Truly, they want to do it... they want to try new things.

We want it. We make it. That's the rule in this house.

Engage them in small wins — that happy smile at the end says it all. 🧵

I would love to see myself through my mums eyes...

That kind of belief from someone who's watched you since the beginning carries a different weight than any other kind of validation. It's not blind — she's seen the growth, the struggle and me landing on my feet.

May you find people who think you can do anything, take on the world.

Every week, in our home gymnastics sessions, I get to watch her prove it a little more. 🤸‍♀️✨

That's the gift of these sessions — not just the flips and the form, but watching me build the kind of belief in myself that she already has in me.

Why do they ALL start with this song?? 😆🦈

I swore — swore — I'd never let this song into my house. Then one afternoon Johari came back from a neighbour's place humming "doo doo doo doo doo doo, SHARK!" and I knew the battle was already lost.

That's when it hit me: I was never going to be the only one raising her. The village gets a vote too. 😅

So here she is — Baby Shark, piano edition. 🎹🦈

It has been a roller coaster — and I have only been able to share what I can in between boxes and bubble wrap.

I started my staff contract after my UNV position on a Temporary contract. I quickly learned that all UN contracts are not equal.

You earn the same base salary as someone on a Fixed Term appointment — but you have completely different benefits and rights.

Her allowance has been doing its job.

Since she started receiving her allowance, she's been learning lessons that most adults are still figuring out.

Lesson 1 → Know the price before you fall in love with the item.
You need to know what it costs AND how much you have to spend. Desire without a budget is just wishful thinking.

Lesson 2 → Opportunity cost is real.
Every choice costs you another choice. Pick one, make peace with letting go of the other.

Lesson 3 → Wants vs. needs is a life skill.
Understanding the difference is the foundation of every budget and every financial decision she'll ever make.

Start them young. The lessons compound just like interest.
