Next week is International Open Access Week!

Starting October 19th, we have a full lineup of events planned for you to learn all about open access. This year's theme, "The Cost of Knowledge", examines questions such as who pays to publish, who gets to access high quality research, and what are the hidden costs when knowledge is too expensive, inaccessible or difficult to find?

Join us for one (or all!) of these events for thoughtful discussions and some freebies! We hope to see you there. Head to the link in our bio to register!

It's homecoming week!

The NJIT Library decided to dive into our Archives and highlight the NJIT student experience over the years. You can check the display out for yourself on the first floor of the Van Houten Library, but we also recommend checking out our Digital Commons or even schedule time to visit our Rare Book Room to see more artifacts such as these.

One of NJIT’s most popular places on campus is right here at the Robert W. Van Houten Library. Come for the space. Stay for the people, support, and resources that help you succeed. Make it your place.

Studying late in the library? Take advantage of NJIT’s Student Late Night Lyft Program. Eligible NJIT students receive a $10 subsidy for local Lyft rides to or from campus between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., Monday through Sunday.

Stay late to study, work on a project, or prepare for an exam, and know you have another option for getting home.

Previously enrolled eligible students remain enrolled. Newly eligible students should check for an email from Lyft sent on September 24, 2026, with instructions to join the program.

Restrictions apply.

What's on display?

Today we're highlighting memoirs! Michelle says, "Whether it's someone you look up to or a situation you've never experienced yourself, memoirs are great for building perspective."

We have quite a few memoirs from a variety of perspectives in our Casual Reading collection, just head up to the 2nd floor. Find these titles and more at library.njit.edu

Video description: Four book covers rotate around the screen on a dark blue/purple and yellow background. The book titles are "I Want to Die but I Want to Eat Tteokbokki" by Baek Sehee, "The Work" by Wes Moore, "Acceptance" by Emi Nietfeld, and "Unbound" by Tarana Burke.
