Isn’t it strange how cyclical life can be?

And how, if we’re too granular in our self-analysis, we can lose sight of the bigger picture and end up cutting ourselves short?

Recently, I’ve found myself repeating the same refrain about where the last few years of my life have led me. My friends can attest to it too. I’ve repeatedly said that the last nine months have arguably been among the hardest of my life, rivalling a season when I had to wrestle with death itself.

But I’m grateful that God gave me a love for capturing the mundane in 4K, because He used those same receipts to show me the stark contrast between my emotions and the hard facts.

What I found was this: yes, my days may have felt melancholic, but they were far from stagnant. They were filled with movement.

Relationships I’d grown lax in nurturing have been strengthened through intentionality (even on days when I didn’t feel like leaving the house).

Forcing myself to move my body when all I wanted to do was curl up and binge Netflix with a giant bowl of chips has yielded mental and emotional dividends I’d nary find anywhere else.

Sometimes the bitterness of life can be regulated by a sweet treat (in moderation) and a soft place to land.

Gathering with the brethren (when I’d rather hide and nurse my emotions) isn’t just scriptural instruction. It’s prescription therapy with little to no side effects.

Taking the time to learn something new may feel inconsequential in the short term, but it could very well be the key that unlocks your next chapter.

Taking a chance and striking up a conversation with that cute, funny guy might just open the door to a friendship you never knew you needed.

The constant through it all?

Lead your heart; don’t be led by it.

Keep putting one foot in front of the other. Keep treading through the night. The morning is coming, and it may be carrying the very life raft you’ve been praying for.

I found this picture taken 2 years ago to the day. When I look at it now all I can think of is how broken and scared I was. I had no idea where my life was going and I felt I had no control of the process. I guess it goes to show how much smiles can hide. 2 years later it’s clear now that shaky foundations were falling away from under my feet so that I could seek and find the Sure Foundation and build an establishment upon Him. I know the feeling of breaking apart is uncomfortable and even scary, but don’t fear the breaking; until the outward man is broken, the inner man cannot manifest.🍃☀️ by @njreloaded
