More snacks! Chris Jones chauffeured us to the Béziers train station today, and packed us off with almond cookies. Yummmmmm. I don’t know how he gets his cookie texture, but he always nails it. We missed our girl who has been down with a cold 😢.

Off we FINALLY GO to meet our twin granddaughters, Frances and Alice, and to soak up all the time we can with our beloveds. Barcelona for tonight and Denver tomorrow.

“Snacks”, anyone?

Our friend, Sandy Stevens, is an accomplished painter. (She may argue, but the proof is in the frame). Recently she’s been experimenting with tiny images in watercolor. She used a photo of Peter that Shannon took at the Med, and I said “sold”.

Sandy sweetly gifted us the painting of Peter, and also a tiny image of our balcony view during sunset.

I’m going to treasure these for all of my days, and they will absolutely adorn the walls of our family long after we are gone.

Trip planning advice please!

I’m arranging a trip for Peter and a sidekick (not moi) to spend 2 or 3 days in Krakow in November. They want to visit WWII related sites, so I want your input if you’ve done this.

They will be coming from Paris and will then head back to Paris when they are done.

Thoughts on the best experience. They are not at all interested in “doing the town”; their interest is truly the education and memorials of WWII.

There are zero photos that capture my Mom in all dimensions. My nieces captured a fantastic snippet of her in the obituary they wrote, though. Mom would kill me if I posted some of my favorite “sass” photos, so I’m just including some very incomplete selections that make me think of her in her best times. Feel free to post any photos or specific memories below . She was and is much loved. Her life carried so much pain, but her joy was always BIG when it came. Shannon, took this photo of Grampy having a Med moment. Our friend, Sandy, who splits time between her home in Canada and her home here in Béziers, is doing these little painting “snacks” as part of her artist’s journey. She captured P in tiny miniature (note the coin for relative size). So sweet!

Make lemonade, my friends. 🍋 🇫🇷
Instead of my long dreamt of evening walk in the gardens of Versailles, I was instead able to stand street side and double birdie the fat orange monster with a well articulated and perfectly pitched “F¥CK Y🍊U” at the top of my voice.

The heavily armed “CSR” labeled police didn’t even blink. Earlier one had told me the problem was “from you!” (meaning me as a U.S. citizen). We both chuckled. Another didn’t flinch when I asked if McDonalds had delivered yet.

I had a delightful chat through the tall, gilded fence, along an obscure side of the gardens with a regular security guard. He was fascinated we are Americans living in france and asked if it’s because of tRump. He definitely moved my timeline up as I feared France would become more guarded toward American visas, but that putrid self serving slime doesn’t at all control my life. He also told me the entire group of his constituents loathes him as well. Welcome to Versailles, fat frump. I wonder how many spit in your soup.

It’s not every day you get to personally insult the leader of the Confederacy of Dunces.
