We celebrated the harvest. Then we planted a seed for the future.
During this year’s Iri Ji festival in Umuwala, we launched something that made the celebration even more meaningful to me: Umuwala High School, the first secondary school in our community.

For me, this was more than the launch of a school.
It was the launch of possibility.

Education has always been something I deeply cherish—not simply because it gives people certificates, but because it gives people choices, confidence and the power to change the trajectory of their lives.

And when you bring that opportunity into a community, the impact goes beyond the individual.
A child who gets a good education can become a professional.
A professional can create jobs.
A new generation can return and build the community that raised them.

That is why being part of this project was such an honour for me.
There was also something beautifully symbolic about launching a school during Iri Ji.
We were celebrating the harvest from the last season, while at the same time planting the seeds of the next generation.
It reminded me that the greatest investment any community can make is in its children.

I was particularly honoured by the presence of His Royal Highness Eze Raphael Anokwuru Onwueyi, Ezeala-Edom III, Umuwala, whose presence made this moment even more special.

To the people of Umuwala, this is our school.
But more importantly, it is our statement of belief in our children and in the future of our community.

May the children who pass through its doors dream bigger, go further and one day return to build even more.
That, to me, is the true meaning of legacy.

Delighted to have aligned with the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, yesterday on his mandate for the ministry and the shared vision for NigComSat's transformational journey.

We want national economic growth facilitated by technological innovation. Satellite development plays a role in supporting this.

✅ Imagine a Nigeria with universal, ubiquitous, and cost-effective access to communications infrastructure throughout the country, including fibre, satellite, and broadband. Picture Aminu, Ada or Ade on his/her remote farm, engaging on a marketplace platform with an AI chatbot to determine the current price of cash crops for his suppliers.

✅ Envision a Nigeria where the utilization of ICT impacts all spheres. A good example was the significant impact of ICT during the COVID-19 pandemic.

✅ Now, imagine a country, Nigeria, and a continent, Africa, where we utilize ICT to drive transparency in government and improve the quality and cost of public service delivery.

✅ This is not just the future; it is the goal. It will significantly increase ICT's GDP contribution (17.8% in Q1 2023 and 19.54% in Q2 2023) for Nigeria.

These are big and audacious goals, yet we are not the first to attempt them. In a similar stride, countries like the UAE and Saudi Arabia are pursuing diversification despite their extensive oil and gas reserves.

This is the picture of the future we want for Nigeria, with intense efforts from NIGERIAN COMMUNICATIONS SATELLITE LIMITED (NIGCOMSAT) in collaboration with other sister agencies, government bodies, and the private sector.

The metrics we aim to measure at the end of 2027 are all listed in the mandate. Have you read the strategy document for FMoCIDE {http://b.link/Strategic-FMoCIDE}?

Share your idea on one project you anticipate us executing in NIGERIAN COMMUNICATIONS SATELLITE LIMITED @nigcomsat in the coming months. We’ll be reading the comments.

I’ve received some comments that suggest some mix up with the difference between a ;

🇳🇬📡 Communication satellite like NigComSat-1R (Managed by NIGCOMSAT) and

🇳🇬🛰️ Remote sensing satellites like NigeriaSat-2 and NigeriaSat-X (Managed by NARSDA)

Simply put, communication satellites relay signals for broadcasting, internet, and telecommunications across wide areas, which keeps us connected.

📡A communications satellite receives transmissions (via an antenna or equipment on earth) and rebroadcasts them back to earth where they should be received . This is usually in a part of earth that cannot be reached by traditional line of sight links e.g rural areas, Tough to reach places like middle of the ocean, moving objects like trains, ship, planes etc. The transmissions are usually received using the right equipment and antenna .

🛰️Remote sensing satellites, on the other hand, capture detailed images of Earth’s surface, with their primary function being Earth Observation. They also play a huge role in Disaster Management as part of the Disaster Monitoring Constellation (DMC). However, their main focus is capturing imagery for environmental monitoring, mapping, and urban planning. So the satellite capture the data and transmits it for data processing to a facility on earth (Hub or gateway).

While they serve different purposes, each contributes significantly to advancing technology and infrastructure in unique ways.

Hope that clarifies things! Happy Friday everyone.

Bende are you ready?

Nigeria, we’re taking connectivity to places that need it most! 🇳🇬📶

Guess where I’m headed today? 👀

Bende, Abia State!

And I’m excited because NUCAP is here! 🚀

We’re about to commission our first site as part of an ambitious rollout of 3,700 telecommunications towers across Nigeria, with the goal of connecting close to 20 million Nigerians who currently lack access.

Think about what this means.

A farmer reaching new customers.
A small business owner receiving payments.
A student accessing learning resources.
A family staying connected to loved ones.

Sometimes, we take network connectivity for granted. But for millions of people, access can change everything.

That’s why this work matters to me. It’s about taking connectivity beyond the cities and bringing more Nigerians into a world of possibilities.

One community at a time. One connection at a time. ❤️

Come along with me to Bende! I’ll be sharing the experience on Instagram Live.

Let’s go! 🛰️🇳🇬

When your network drops, who has to act, and do they know it?

That’s the question behind a panel I joined on moving from silo to sovereign readiness.

A “silo” just means teams that each do their own job well but never plan together. A country can have strong agencies and still be exposed, because the risk sits in the gaps between them.

Five things have to work as one chain:
🔭 Foresight: what to prepare for
🤝 Institutions: who acts, and when
📡 Communications: carrying the decision
🔐 Cyber assurance: protecting it
⚡ Power: keeping all of it running

At NIGCOMSAT, we’ve put real work into resilience at our hub, including power continuity, because customers and government can only trust a network that stays up.

My ask in the room was simple: every priority needs one named owner. Ideas without a name next to them don’t get built.

If you’re a young Nigerian studying engineering, cyber, energy, policy or data, here’s the opportunity: the people who can connect these fields will lead the next decade. Pick one field to master, and learn enough of the others to speak their language.

Which field are you in, and which of the other four do you most want to understand? Tell me below. 👇

200+ young entrepreneurs. One YouTube Live. One big question: How do we sell more? 🚀

That’s how I spent my weekend!

Last night, we brought together over 200 young Nigerian entrepreneurs and SMEs for a Sales & Marketing Masterclass.

Why? Because having a great product is one thing. Getting people to buy it, come back, and tell others about it is another!

A huge thank you to Ralph @ralphzakhia from Reddit and Jessica of @jesambeauty_hair for sharing their knowledge and making the session worthwhile.

I love seeing young Nigerians invest in themselves and their businesses. Sometimes, the next stage of growth starts with one new idea, one honest conversation, or one thing you decide to do differently.

And we’re not stopping here! ❤️

If we hosted another masterclass, what would you want us to discuss next? Sales? Personal branding? Raising capital? Using AI to grow your business?

Tell me in the comments. Let’s shape the next session together!

A satellite travels around the Earth at approximately 3.07 kilometres per second. But behind that incredible journey are people who dedicate their lives to keeping it going. 🛰️❤️

This Friday, one of those people, Ovurevu Suleiman, takes a bow after 20 years of meritorious service to NIGCOMSAT and our nation.

As Head of Satellite Control and Operations, he has been part of the team working behind the scenes to keep NIGCOMSAT-1R on course.

A first-class engineering graduate, trained internationally, and one of the true torchbearers of Nigeria’s space industry, Ovurevu represents the kind of expertise and dedication it takes to build and sustain critical technology infrastructure.

But what makes this moment especially meaningful to me is not just what he has done. It is what he has passed on.

The knowledge shared. The experience transferred. The younger engineers mentored. The next generation equipped to carry the work forward.

Because the true measure of a career is not only what you achieve while you are present. It is what continues to thrive because you were there.

Ovurevu, thank you for 20 years of service, for your commitment to our nation, and for investing in the people who will take Nigeria’s space journey further.

We are grateful for your service. We celebrate your impact. And we wish you joy and fulfilment in this next chapter.

To every young Nigerian in tech: build great things, but never forget to build people, too. One day, your greatest contribution may be the person who carries your work forward.❤️

Warfare is no longer fought only on land, in the air and at sea. Space is now a critical operational domain, with cyberspace adding another front.

And this changes how we think about technology, national security and Nigeria’s future.

On October 9, I joined the Defence Space Administration (DSA) to celebrate its 12th anniversary.

For 12 years, DSA has been building Nigeria’s capacity to apply space technology to defence and national security. From geospatial intelligence to satellite communications and specialised capacity building, its work highlights how critical technology has become to protecting our nation.

At NIGCOMSAT, we understand that the strength of Nigeria’s space capabilities depends on collaboration. Our partnership with DSA reflects what is possible when Nigerian institutions bring their expertise, infrastructure and innovation together for a common purpose.

But there is another side to this conversation that I want young Nigerians to pay attention to.

Space and cyber are not just matters for the military. They are also fields where talent, innovation and specialised skills will shape the future.

We need engineers, software developers, data scientists, cybersecurity experts, researchers and entrepreneurs who can help Nigeria build the capabilities it needs.

You don’t have to be an astronaut to contribute to the space industry. You could be the person building the software, analysing satellite data, securing critical systems or developing the next big idea.

As we celebrate DSA at 12, I hope we also inspire more young Nigerians to look up, look beyond the familiar, and see the possibilities waiting in our space and technology ecosystem.

Congratulations to the Defence Space Administration on 12 years of service to our nation.

My people , have you ever considered a career in space or cybersecurity? What would help you explore these fields?

Let’s talk in the comments.

Earlier this week, our nation lost men and women who served and protected Nigeria in the tragic aircraft crash in Ondo State.

Yesterday, I visited to sign the condolence register and stand in solidarity with the Chief of the Air Staff and the officers, airmen and airwomen of the Nigerian Air Force.

In times like this, words often feel inadequate. But sometimes, showing up matters. It is a way of saying to those who are grieving: we see your pain, we honour your loss, and you do not stand alone.

Behind every uniform is a human being, a family, friends and loved ones whose lives have been forever changed by this loss.

To the families of the fallen personnel and their colleagues in the Nigerian Air Force, my heart goes out to you. May God grant you comfort and strength in this incredibly difficult time.

Their service to our nation will not be forgotten. May their souls rest in perfect peace.🕊️ by @nk_amadi
