As a new working mum, I honestly sometimes question and doubt myself on a regular basis. Juggling motherhood and running a business isn’t easy. 😅

So to be celebrated in such a way is honestly so reassuring that I’m on the right path - the encouragement I need to keep going 🥹😭❤️

We’re really intentional about the people we surround young G with. So to spend the entire weekend with our family, friends & chosen family is really something special 🥺

I dunno these rainbow babies are extra special so I can’t thank you all enough for making my first born feel one in a million ✨

I think what makes Kwame such an exceptional father is everything that makes him an exceptional man.

In a world designed against Black women, he has chosen to love us both boldly and proudly. Every day, he shows Sienna how we deserve to be cared for, protected, and truly seen.

To know Kwame is to know that family means everything to him. That man will go to the ends of the earth for the people he loves. I remember when we first started dating and he said the only person whose approval I needed was his then eight-year-old niece, whom he adored. From that moment, watching him celebrate and advocate for young G, I knew not only that I was with a great man, but with a man who would be an incredible father.

Because let’s be honest: to be a good father IS to be a good man - one who is committed to protecting women and girls from harm, believing women, and very simply respecting us. It’s actually not hard, even if the world makes it out to be. As Kwame always says, “This is the minimum.”

Whether it’s supporting the children of Grenfell, advocating for the children of Palestine, or simply stepping in for my godson, it doesn’t matter to Kwame whether they’re his own. He’s such a wonderful father figure to whoever needs it, simply because it’s the right thing to do.

We’ve talked at length about what breaking generational curses really means in practice - how we wished better for our families, and rejected cultural norms that we simply didn’t back. Watching us ebb and flow through parenthood while putting these values into practice has been so fulfilling. I can see your inner child gleaming with pride, and it makes me so happy.

Kwame, we are nothing without you. In fact, I don’t think we’d eat, because you know your girl doesn’t cook. Lol. Everyday I thank God that you’re the playground swing pusher, Twi speaker, night time routiner, carry on the shoulder and silly playful parent because you know I ain’t got the minerals. Lmao

Getting bare mushy on the gram ain’t really my style, but I just want the world to know that you, my love, are truly an exceptional father, and it’s an honour to celebrate you today.

On Friday 3rd October, we’re launching Beyond Beauty in Brooklyn, New York.

The event will be hosted at @gladysbooksbk - a Black-lesbian owned bookstore & wine bar, followed by food curated by @amandla_collective - a Brooklyn-based food collective that leverages the power of bringing people together over food to talk about social justice.

Hosted by @nkrystal, founder + ceo of @blackgirlfest, the panel will feature inspiring leading women in the beauty industry, @theresembg , founder + CEO of @kobaskincare and @mamymbaye, co-founder of @getsliq, who will share insights on navigating and growing a business in beauty.

We’re inviting founders, creators and thought leaders to join us for an inspiring evening of networking, celebration, and inspiration.
