🔥 AR!ES went live over the weekend and as you can tell I’ve been super excited to get this one out of my head. This one is especially impactful to me for several reasons, but one in particular is that I actually developed a vocal polyp last year amidst performing live, and rehearsing / recording this song. I was dead set to have it out in the summer of 2025, but was forced to go on 2-3 month vocal rest, and honestly had no idea if I’d be able to sing the same again. This was one of the scariest moments in my life as I felt part of my identity was gone. And I literally had to hold back tears while hugging my ENT after it finally went away in November. So it’s been very cathartic finishing it and making sure to take proper care of my voice my while doing so. (Protect ur instrument y’all) About the song: was on a plane when I heard the little chorus melody in my head in 2021, and finally decided in 2024 to put some chords to it, fine tune the lyrics etc This was originally a MUCH slower song until @taylordevo joined the picture, and he really helped bring it into a fun pop punk world that just instantly felt right. So I wanted to give him a huge shoutout for putting in the work to write and track the drums with me at the amazing @studiocitysound !! Those guys were so cool and had a killer setup. 🎶 “Walk Away” is live everywhere today‼️I wrote this one on piano in the fall of 2024, and it’s been an amazing journey bringing it to life. HUGE thanks to: @david_generato for going above and beyond while working on this with me in @laampmusic and producing a sick groove + gorgeous atmospheric feels @derekkozak for getting up with me at 7:30AM after a week of working in ATX to shoot some beautiful footage for his homie - a true friend right there! (A cup of @bluebottle coffee will persuade into almost anything!) @jeremie_inhaber for working his magic on the mix and really elevating the vocals in a way i didn’t imagine! & @fili_filizzola for providing the glue that helps it really shine!
