Lights On Afterschool is coming up but planning an event doesn't have to be hard!

Here are some of the most popular ways people celebrate:
- Open House: Share your program's story by inviting your community to participate in a Day in the Life or special event at your program.
- Rally: Demonstrate at your state capitol, your city hall, or invite policymakers to your program site to honor afterschool champions and make connections with decision-makers.
- Talent Showcase: Put the talents of your students center stage and celebrate everything they are learning after school.
- Carnival/Festival: Set up interactive games, booths, snacks, and group activities like mural painting or a movie screening to create a special day at your program.
- Art Day: Download coloring pages and decorate your program with artwork from your students.

EC² Project Shows Why Afterschool Works for Rural Career Connections

On a recent afternoon in rural South Carolina, elementary students experimented with hands-on STEM in their local afterschool program. The college students guiding them were discovering something, too: what it means to lead, mentor, and inspire the next generation while gaining meaningful workforce experience themselves.

Last week, NMOST was recognized at the Community Resource Fund’s Valencia County Youth Gala Awards ceremony! We received the Non-Profit of the Year award after 3 years of collaboration with @h2academicsolutions and @ourventurelab to bring youth entrepreneurship funding and curricula to Valencia County. NMOST also congratulates all the other organizations and outstanding youth leaders who were recognized at the gala. Additionally, we want to congratulate staff at the Community Resource Fund on their new teen center that has now been open for 5 weeks!
