Hello NMWIF Members,

We are so excited for the year ahead. We have great things planned, including more opportunities to connect, learn, collaborate, and celebrate the incredible women working in film across New Mexico.

This year, our focus is on building a stronger member community, creating meaningful programming, expanding industry relationships, and making sure our members feel seen, supported, and connected.

Thank you for being part of NMWIF. Your voice, creativity, and participation are what make this organization strong, and we cannot wait to grow with you this year. by @nmwif

Am I WIF?
If you work in film, television, media, or storytelling, or you simply believe in supporting women and gender diverse creatives in New Mexico, the answer might be yes.

New Mexico Women in Film is about more than networking. It’s about finding collaborators, mentors, resources, opportunities, and a community that wants to see you succeed.

You do not have to be at a certain point in your career. You do not have to have it all figured out. You just have to care about creating a stronger, more inclusive film community in New Mexico.

So, are you WIF?

Learn more about NMWIF, upcoming events, and membership at nmwif.com. Or give us a follow here on insta! We post all our upcoming events here!

For this month’s NMWIF Board Member Spotlight, meet Lisa Lucas.

Lisa is a writer, producer, actor, and longtime New Mexico film professional whose career spans television, documentaries, independent film, and more. She has produced, written, and developed more than 36 television series, including The Bachelor, Work of Art on Bravo, and the Emmy winning My 1st Time on NBC.

She has also been part of the producing team behind several award winning documentaries with Silver Bullet Productions, including A Thousand Voices, Defending the Fire, However Wide the Sky, and No Greater Act: Pueblo Resistance. .

When asked why she wanted to be part of NMWIF, Lisa said she wanted to be part of a community of professional women in the New Mexico film industry who uplift, network, and support one another.

Her advice to people starting out is just as strong: bring your A game, even to those first student films. The professionalism, expectations, and energy you bring early on can help shape the path ahead.

And her craft service must have? Proper coffee.

Follow Lisa at @noel1films.

This is part of our monthly NMWIF Board Member Spotlight series, where we introduce you to the people helping build and support our film community.

New Mexico Women in Film is headed to the New Mexico Film Office Conference!

Our President, Kat Bloom, will be speaking at the conference, and NMWIF will be there with a booth and a live podcast, giving our film community a chance to talk with us about the state of the industry in New Mexico.

And this is just the beginning. The NMWIF podcast is coming soon, and we want you to be part of the voices shaping film in New Mexico.

Most importantly, we want our community in the room. If you still need a ticket or cost is keeping you from attending, please email or DM us. We want to help make sure everyone who wants to participate has the opportunity to be there.

Come find us, join the conversation, and make your voice part of the future of film in New Mexico!
