on a warm humid day, my auntie and her girls gathered together for a day of emotional empowerment 🌹🌬️ me and @esa_cipota_ had been talking about this moment for quite some time because of my curiosity in her strength and journey as a woman navigating parenthood in a fatherless environment while raising young women of the future . dissecting stereotypes of motherhood. this project has prompted me to find the courage, patience , and curiosity in the beautiful stories of everyday lives around me. this day was special because we talked about the importance of protecting innocence within the children while knowing when to take the step into bringing reality to their lives. we shared comfort for the experience of being touched as a child while talking about being in a time period now where emotional literacy has the capacity of a huge component to healing. lastly , glo was being hard on herself about not answering all the questions but i reminded her the importance of not spreading herself so thin because she’s already doing her best. as always, thank u to the girls who grow into powerful women of today. love love love ANCESTORS, I SOBER NOW 🌊 DEV&SCAN : @lafilmlab 𝕬 π•·π–”π–›π–Š π•Ύπ–™π–”π–—π–ž π–‡π–ž : 𝕹𝖆𝖙𝖍𝖆𝖓 π–‚π–†π–™π–Šπ–—π–˜ #MadeWithKodak #fyp #motherhood by @nnathanwaters

the hands of a mother whom prefers safety the hands of a mother whom is reinventing herself the hands of a goddess whom is dealing with the results of postpartum stress the body , the image of a women’s vessel has become a spear to her own mind the standards of beauty from patriarchal theories pierce through the hearts of young women as they grow into motherhood, womanhood self destructing voices that leave isolation as a barrier to recovery she did not want to fully be seen but allowed the opportunity to capture her precious hands the hands that nurture , feed, breed, pat, hug, love , shake , grip ii could, will never know what it’s like to carry a child, have cramps but what i do know is the level of importance for us a collective to start having conversations about emotional literacy within our family trees. we all grew up in taboo habits, cherishing the habits of shielding our children from the realities of motherhood, moon times, fatherhood, emotional therapy - the potentials of dealing with expectations from potential things such as postpartum depression, stress from both a women and man’s perspective are needed now.
