I was having my bath this morning, thinking about a friend who loves attention, when I suddenly remembered the phrase:

“Go where you are celebrated, not where you are tolerated.”

And almost at the same time, I heard in my spirit:

“Where you are celebrated doesn’t necessarily mean you are loved.”

That really made me think.

People can celebrate you and still condemn you the moment you turn your back. Some people have simply figured out what makes you feel loved and have learned how to leverage it.

So perhaps the best place to be isn’t necessarily where you are constantly celebrated.

Maybe it is where you are at peace in your spirit.

Where you are not constantly seeking validation, applause, acceptance or reassurance from people.

Where you can look at your own reflection and genuinely be proud of who you are becoming.
Where your peace is not dependent on who claps for you, who notices you, who chooses you, or who approves of you. And most importantly, where you have the assurance of God’s promises concerning your life and your future.
Because sometimes, being at peace with who God is making you may be more valuable than being celebrated by people who only love the version of you that serves them.

I just thought to share. by @nnengi

FIVE YEARS ON

I remember wanting to make a post about how being married to a good man actually takes 99% of your problems away. Then the Holy Spirit gently reminded me that I still have a husband (the Husband to the widows) who loves me deeply and is, in His own way, fiercely protective and jealous over me.

After you passed, I found this in your notebook. I wasn’t surprised, because I knew exactly the kind of man you were. I’m grateful I never got carried away and forgot to appreciate, but I guilt tripped myself for a while that I should have done more, but looking back, I’m grateful that I didn’t keep your flowers away from you while you were still alive. You were a great person.

Always looking out for us.
Always putting us first.
Always showing up for the people you loved.

Tomorrow makes it five years since you went to be with the Lord and your father.

Thank you for living an amazing and impactful life. Thank you for leaving such a beautiful legacy for your children. I speak about you with pride because, even in death, there is so much about your life that makes me grateful that I got to share a part of it with you. You didn’t kill the hope I had in the existence of a good marriage. In fact, you gave me proof that it exists.

I miss you. I miss our fights and our reconciliations.
I miss jumping on your body and you smacking my bum bum. 😊😉
I miss your smile.
I miss your selflessness.
I miss your intentionality.
I miss the way you cared.
I miss the man you were.
And perhaps what I miss most is the comfort of knowing that there was someone in this world who was genuinely looking out for me and the children.

But I am comforted by the fact that the God who kept you and called you home is the same God who has kept me all these years.

You left, but you didn’t leave me without love.

Rest well, Olowo Ori Mi. ❤️

You are still spoken of with pride.
You are still deeply missed.
And you are still loved.

A WIDOW’S TALE

September 25th, 2021 — the day my life took a different turn.

I still replay that day in my head sometimes. But even in the midst of the pain, there was a constant assurance from God: “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
And He has been true to His Word.

When I look back at the past 5 years of my life, I can honestly say that every significant growth, every unexpected provision, every door that opened, and every strength I somehow found when I thought I had none was orchestrated by God.
Yes, I have tried to be diligent. I have stumbled. I have failed more times than I care to admit. I have questioned myself, lost my way, and had moments when I wondered how I would keep going.

But God has continually shown me mercy.

Lately, I have been doing a lot of soul-searching, and there is one thing I simply cannot shake, the overwhelming Grace of God and His continuous favour over my life.

So today, my heart is filled with gratitude.

Gratitude for the gift of life.
For my children.
For my home.
For my work.
For every lesson, every new beginning, every answered prayer and even the prayers that seemed unanswered.

Because through it all, there has always been this quiet reassurance within me:

I am not alone.
I am covered.
I am shielded.
I am held by God.

And perhaps that is the greatest part of my story, not that I lost someone I loved, but that in losing, I discovered that God was still able to hold me, carry me, rebuild me and give me a life I could still be grateful for.

Five years later, I am still here.

Still becoming.
Still learning.
Still healing.
Still grateful.

And above all, still held by Grace.
