This song has remained a heartfelt prayer.
As winds blow and storms rage, stay rooted, stay grounded, stay in alignment.
Guard your heart, fight hard to keep it pure and never forget what our life’s race is all about and who our devotion is to.
And above all, love one another deeply for love covers a multitude of sins.
When we are quick to see one another’s flaws, our love tank may be shallow.

Yesterday was our Daddy’s birthday. Faithful friend, husband and father. We are so grateful for him ❤️

One thing The Lord has been teaching me lately is that we can be steady even in unsteady times. That our devotion and commitment to Him doesn’t have to wax and wane based on any season of life. That in times of abundance or in times of lack, in good times and in not so good ones, we can remain unshaken in our posture and resolute in faith. We can draw examples from people like Daniel and Joseph whose devotion to Jesus never changed no matter the environment - in slavery, in prison, in Potiphar’s house, or in Pharaoh’s palace,in the lions den or as prime minister, they stayed steady. This didn’t come by wishful thinking but by a strong resolve made in the secret place.

Storms and winds will test our resolve and commitment. The waves will blow in our direction and reveal the nature of our resolve. What have I resolved? What have you resolved? Are you steady when life is steady but shaky when life’s winds are fierce? Is your commitment to Jesus shaky and at risk when life is hard?

I leave you with this verse from Daniel 1:8 -

“But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.”
‭‭
God is seeking men and women of deep conviction, unwavering commitment and firm resolve. Am I? Are you?

The best advice I have received which has continued to serve me well is:

Every season comes to an end. None lasts forever, so let this perspective shape how you handle whatever season you are in.

Thinking about it, I see how this piece of advice has helped me navigate even the most difficult of seasons. I remember when I moved to England. As winter rolled around I thought I would pass out. I packed my bags mentally in preparedness to return to warmer climes. Similarly, we tend to want to check out from one season when it’s hard, dark and cold. At that point life feels unbearable, the season looks so long like it would never end. But seasons like that afford us the opportunity to grow deep roots, to endure, to build strong foundations and to do hard things well and before we know it we begin to see the dark clouds lift and the rays of the sun in the horizon.

Every season serves a purpose if we would adjust our perspective, stay present, and also realize that even the good summery seasons don’t hang around for long so we must steward them well.

Not sure where this finds you but if you’re like me who wanted to check out at the sight of every winter, I encourage you to hang in there, seasons roll around, be present, endure, steward well and fight for your joy.

Just a girl, her phone and one of her favorite songs.

Recently, I was pushing forward in a particular direction and just as everything was almost ready, the plan didn’t work out. I sat down in my quiet space trying to process it with The Lord and guess what He said - He said “that’s one of the privileges and benefits you enjoy when walking with me. I get to be your Lord and get to interrupt and intercept your plans, so I can lead you along the best paths for your life”. My heart flooded with gratitude and I just kept saying Lord thank You for loving me this way, and for watching over every step I take. He is not just my Savior, He is my Lord.
