When you’re young, no one really warns you how hard it can be to make and keep friends as you get older. No one tells you quite how much hardship life may have in store, or how many seasons there will be when you have to strengthen weaknesses or life will keep knocking you down.

But I also don’t think anyone emphasizes enough how much sweeter— and so much less lonely— life can be when you have a sister.

I’ve watched my sister move through life with a strength that amazes me, and with a loyalty and devotion to the people she loves that is rare and precious. And how lucky am I that our deep, spiritual bond somehow came packaged with someone who is just as obsessed with fashion as I am, who understands the genuine delight of a perfect pair of shoes, and who will happily spend an unreasonable amount of time shopping with me. 😂

There are soul bonds, and there are shopping bonds, and I have been blessed with both.

To have someone with whom you share the material and the spiritual, the serious and the ridiculous, the hardships and the pleasures, the history behind you and—God willing—so much life still ahead of you, is priceless.

As someone working in media I think about this every single day. What are the stories about human nature my industry is telling? How does a profit motive above all else taint the lens? Is it possible to make commercial media that’s fun and compelling, that tells a different story? by @nnnava

It never occurred to me anyone in Iran could or would be watching @podcrushed, and this comment simultaneously broke my heart and elated it. I long to visit my ancestral homeland one day, when my religion is no longer persecuted.
