Few people in history are known by only one name. Ichiro is one of the few.

Watching This Legend Through The Years.

He Will Be A Hall Of Fame Inductee When He’s Eligible in 2025.

Greatest acquisition in Mariners history during the Nintendo ownership era.

He used to do the same thing for batting practice before games. He’d have a home run derby for his last couple swings to close out the pre show. Then he’d put up 3 hits, a couple swiped bags, rocket a runner down, and make a couple highlight reel defensive plays patrolling his right field office during the main show.

Man was a unit and remains a unit in the Seattle Mariners front office. Couldn’t seal the Shohei deal, but if it means we pick up 100 primes into the farm system for the next 10 years, I guess that’s a good trade off.

* Pretty sure this quote came when he played in the Nippon Professional Baseball League, though. Since his TV Announcer wife covered all his games when he was in Seattle.

One of the last HOT days in Vancity before fall hits gave us another reason to celebrate September! ☀️🌊🦀
Captain Mack @michael_vo called and said he and Paulie had installed a new sound system on his boat and needed a 2nd mate. Even when there’s only 2 of us, I’m the “2nd mate” 🤣.

I’m down. Always down. 😂⚓️🎶

We started in South Van and cruised through some serious Vancity scenery:

📍 Vancouver’s Ft. Lauderdale-esque yacht neighborhood

Just as we rolled into False Creek with BC Place in view, Spotify randomly gave us the perfect soundtrack… Nelly — “Number 1.” 🎶🔥

That song was the theme song for our John Oliver Jokers football team back in the day. During our final season playing together, our Jokers were ranked number 1 in the Province week after week. 🏈🔥

Our HS teammate and defensive OLB wizard Paulie couldn’t make the boat ride, but he helped get the new sound system dialed in. Hearing “Number 1” blasting from the boat brought back memories of Paulie bumping that song in his whip back in HS.

And cruising into False Creek with BC Place in the background brought it all right back. 🔥🏈

That stadium is where so much of our legend as John Oliver Jokers started. As juniors, we played in the dome and dominated the gridiron.

On September 13, 2001, The Province Newspaper featured me and @michael_vo in the HS football section as key defensive players for the Jokers — during a season when our team was ranked number 1 in the province week after week.

From HS football to cruising Vancity by boat years later — still celebrating the wins, remembering our bros, and keeping the good times and wins rolling. 🏈➡️🚤💯

The Vancouver Boat People Playlist. The Raw Clips. 🎵🛶🛥️🚢💿

Captain Mack @michael_vo took me out on the waters. It was cool being your first mate. Even though you call me your 2nd mate when there’s only 2 of us on the boat. 😂

Went around the UBC beaches from the Fraser into English Bay and False Creek right into Vancouver Harbour.

🏴‍☠️🛥️Pirating the waters and seeing Van from the waterways was something else. Luffy and Zoro type ish. 🏴‍☠️🛥️

Big Thanks to Paulie for helping hook up the tunes. It would’ve been lame if only one side of the speaker system was working. 🦾🔊
