Lars Bergquist “Presenting a constructive mantra of reduce, reuse, recycle. 14x18x1 inches This is a 5 color silkscreen print with water-based ink on tempered hardwood. Originally an Edition of 55, we have the last three up for grabs on our site! The artist signed and numbered each one on the back. The work plays with the illusion of a print and construct of an object and depicts a plastic bag with a target logo and an arrow through the center playing with the idea that hunting for food is just going to a corporate grocery store.. Up on our site now through the link! Be sure to follow @no_touching_ground for more of his amazing work and adventures. by @no_touching_ground
Growing up in Washington, I witnessed so many disappointing seasons from the @seahawks. It wasn’t till I was older that we started getting a little respect and had teams that were competitive. It never seemed like the Seahawks were gonna win a championship in my lifetime, though they got close once. Until the 2013 season. The Seattle Seahawks embodied my perception of the city itself: Always the underdog, always overlooked. When the Seahawks won the whole thing in 2013, it felt like team had put the whole city on its back. We had dudes like @beastmode and @kamchancellor that were all about their business and who you couldn’t fuck with. A lot of underdog players, discarded and drafted low that became legends during that run. When we got that trophy I felt like everyone in the city won it. I started this painting around the beginning of this past NFL season, and finished the painting right about the time they won their second NFL trophy. I watched this Super Bowl with my family on Whidbey Island and then took the ferry back to Mukilteo and hopped an uber back to Pioneer Square to celebrate with the city. I brought my field recording device out that night in Pioneer Square and recorded the sounds of cheering, fireworks, cars peeling out and the occasional chant of “FUCK THE NINERS” - Seattle 💗 Trophy 19 1/2 x 63x 1 inches Oil on hardwood 2026 by @no_touching_ground

“Nothing Will Ever Be What It Once Was” 108 x 60 x 2 inches Oil on canvas 2026 This was the first painting I started for my show RECOGNIZE ME IN EVERYTHING @europagalleryseattle. When I moved back to Seattle from LA I was searching for familiar landmarks within the city that reminded me of what was here before I left. Something that was leftover and overlooked from my previous life in Seattle. This is a large painting, it’s 9ft wide by 5ft tall and I was searching for a studio with a wall big enough to paint it. Nick @base.camp.studios told me he wanted me to paint in Basecamp 1 and he had a studio I should check out. I measured the largest wall in the studio and saw the canvas would fit with an inch on either side as the buffer space. I took the studio that day and stretched out my canvas the next day on the wall. My vibe has always been you get in where you fit in. I wanted to make a painting that was very much about the Seattle I knew from the past and infused it with a fern that I’d dug up down by the stadiums to pay homage to the PNW. I use new growth in my paintings quite often set amongst the old relics I find within an environment. I continually return to the idea of new life being born out of wreckage. by @no_touching_ground

For more than two decades, Lars Bergquist has left traces of his work across Seattle, from wheatpasted birds and deer to memorials, public art projects, and free blanket distributions for unhoused neighbors. In Amanda Manitach’s profile, Bergquist looks back on the path from graffiti and street art to Recognize Me In Everything, his new solo exhibition at Europa Gallery. Along the way, she traces his years fishing in Alaska, the origins of his No Touching Ground moniker, his return to Seattle after living in Los Angeles, and the city that continues to shape his work. Recognize Me In Everything is on view through June 11, with an artist talk scheduled for June 11 at 7:30 p.m. by @no_touching_ground

After six years of living in Los Angeles, @no_touching_ground is back in the PNW, making conceptual art that is self-revelatory, socially poignant, and culturally provincial. This week marks the opening of his solo exhibition titled Recognize Me in Everything, a tribute to lived experience in both LA and Seattle that underscores the emotional and material impermanence of this life. The show features installations and oil works rooted in the nostalgia of transitory cityscapes and the underbelly of social stratification. And through it all, we’re offered intimate insight into Lars’ identity and history. Several years back, while still in LA, Lars was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a startling and sobering chapter he has since recovered from. That experience certainly lent perspective and clarity, which he carries over into his work. Once drawn to the ephemeral, Lars’ artistic focus is now aimed at what is profoundly affecting and lasting. Seattle is lucky to have him back and to have the opportunity to peer in on his lived experience and commentary. Take in this phenomenal show at @europagalleryseattle starting this Thursday, June 4 at 6pm. by @no_touching_ground

On view this First Thursday, June 4th @europagalleryseattle 6-11 PM Lars Bergquist Recognize Me In Everything Europa Gallery 401 2nd Ave S Seattle, WA 98104 Europa Gallery is pleased to present Recognize Me In Everything, a solo exhibition by Seattle based artist Lars Bergquist, featuring a new body of oil paintings and installation work. Marking his first solo exhibition in 10 years, this show reflects on Bergquist’s return to Seattle after six years spent in Los Angeles and the emotional and environmental shifts that accompanied that transition. Set against the backdrop of Seattle landmarks and its surrounding landscapes. Recognize me in Everything delves into ones own relationship with memories painted by nostalgia. Through Bergquist’s distinctly troupe l’oil style, he reimagines urban landscapes into something deeply autobiographical. Weaving together the unique relationship between identity and place. While living in Los Angeles, Bergquist was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and underwent chemotherapy. A deeply profound experience that forever changed his relationship with what was and what remained. Upon returning to Seattle he was confronted with a city and self that felt simultaneously familiar and transformed. With this newfound acute awareness between permanence and change, Lars posed a series of questions to friends and loved ones : “When I pass will you remember me? How will you remember me? What triggers thoughts of me in your mind?”. The responses to these questions became the conceptual framework for many of the works presented in this exhibition.
