I may not be the most technical designer by trade, but boy can I sell vibes🏡

When I was asked if I wanted to join a Bachelor/HGTV competition show, I had no idea what was in store for me those next few months.
I have always wanted to be involved with @hgtv and have been perfecting my craft with Abi over the last two years so it made perfect sense. Doing two things you love at the same time is almost always going to be a yes for me.

When I discovered on the show that my mom’s situation was much more severe than I thought, I wasn’t sure what to do. Working through my life long dream and childhood nightmare simultaneously on TV wasn’t something I knew to prepare for.
I didn’t want the others to know what I was going through because I didn’t want the sympathy or attention but it was so much weight to try to hold onto. I was taught your work ethic and skill were more important than what you think you deserve for it so I wanted to be judged on only that. Plus, my Mom said I didn’t need the pity and she would be healthy by the time I got back to celebrate but deep down I knew only one of those things were true 🥲

Winning this show was such a huge achievement for me.
Not just because I have a passion for what I do, but because only I know how hard it was for me to pursue that passion despite what the world was throwing at me.

Going home to tell my mom I won and getting to take care of her in her final days will forever be a core memory I am grateful for.

The truth is no matter how great, a TV show doesn’t come close to real life situations but I am so grateful for the opportunity to experience it all.
I said on the show that this all seemed too bizarre for me not to think God has his hand in it, I haven’t figured out all of the pieces but I’m choosing to believe that’s still the case.

I never know what’s next but I am so thankful for the support and grace everyone has had while I try to figure out this thing called life. Love yall
(Yes this show was as exhausting as it looks)

Being in nature as much as you can with no distractions is one of the best things you can do for your mental health.
(I call anything that gives you peace wellness)

I haven’t decided what this era is but I like it
(I’d be down for a new brother in law)

Abi and I try to go to a new date night place every month. We started with once a week and realized that’s ridiculous, It’s been one of our best ideas to date.
(I’m still really bad at remembering to take photos of her but this one is pretty good.)

One of my favorite things we do is cook or try different foods. Truth be told what Abi has been whipping up is better than any places we’ve been to but it’s good to get out of the house.
(Family style with 2 people is a cheat code)

If you’re ever in the same country as @thomasajacobs you go to his surprise Bday party.
The chef said he has never had a party finish the entire table. We took that as a challenge that I hope I never have to do again. Love ya lil Tommy.
(I miss all of my friends in CA, Oklahoma is always open)

We are renovating our main bathroom.
I didn’t think it looked ‘that old’ but then I Thought about how happy I would be if my wife randomly got pregnant and she had a new bathroom. We have been combining my HGTV skills with her design and I think it’s reall good.
(I miss the subcontractors from TV and I’m learning to not do everything myself it’s just SO expensive)

Kids will say this was AI.
You have no idea how much trouble this picture got me in as a kid but I drove by the building the other day and it’s crazy to be back in the same town I used to run around in.
(I don’t condone any of this but I will have it framed when I’m a grandpa and pictures become antique)

I’ll wager you all of your snacks and leave with the fridge.
I don’t know when playing games died but I’m glad to remember that I love it.
