This past Monday June 5th I received a call from my dad. He just finished a heart procedure and was calling to tell me he was okay. He was laughing and joking with me about the cute nurses he made laugh. I told him a story about a guy trying to run from me at work. He loved my work stories. I said goodbye and told him I loved him as I hung up the phone. A few hours later my mom calls me crying telling me I needed to come home.

My dad in just a few hours after talking, smiling, and laughing with me over the phone suffered a brain bleed. Before I got on my flight home my mom called to tell me my dad survived the brain surgery. I fell to the ground of the airport crying with thanks.

Over the next 36 hours I did not sleep or eat. At the hospital I got to see my dad. He had tubs and wires sticking out of him and his head wrapped up. He was still breathing and his heart ticking, but it was there I learned the worst news possible. My dads brain would not recover and was actually getting worse. My dad would die in the upcoming days.

Wednesday, June 7th, I said goodbye to my dad for the last time. I told him that I loved him and he was an amazing dad.

Friday June 9th in the middle of the night my dad passed away. In my dads final moments he donated his organs to people who needed them. My dad saved someone’s life.

This Sunday we will put my dad to rest. I appreciate all the love and help my family has received this past week. It truly means to world to my family.
