The Kickout wasn’t Cleveland’s first street soccer tournament, it was Cleveland’s first aura farm.

Cleveland’s first street soccer tournament drew more than 500 people downtown for 17 matches in just 4 hours.

The Kickout was organized by Ohio City SC and the Cleveland Soccer Group Foundation at North Coast Yard, featuring teams from across Northeast Ohio.

The event included food from Zanzibar, Corner65, and Good Vibe Pies, music by DJ Killillias, and support from University Hospitals and local volunteers.

I’m hosting my dream event next week in downtown Cleveland. I hope you’ll come.

A street soccer tournament on the lake with the best teams in the region. Free entry. Food and drink. An incredible set from my favorite local DJ.

I never do life updates here but there’s a first time for everything. After 5 years I’ve officially moved on from the great local nonprofit, @resourcecleveland Re:Source Cleveland (formerly The Refugee Response). It’s been a great experience but I’m so excited for my next step.

I will continue staying involved with local soccer access here in #CLE through @ohiocitysc Ohio City SC and @clevelandprosoccer Cleveland Professional Soccer Foundation, and my new job is to bring the new and unique restaurant financing model from inKind to the Great Lakes region for @inkind_hospitality

This new opportunity is not only a big change for my work, but it will help change the framework for how restaurants are financed and maintain sustainability in our city. It’s a nationally successful and exciting model that minimizes risk and benefits both owners and eaters.

So, all to say, I’ve loved my last half a decade and will still be involved with local soccer access through my nonprofit in partnership with @corner65kids. BUT if you or a friend owns a restaurant and is interested to learn about the model, hit me up. And don’t be surprised when you get a call from me.

The thing they don’t want you to know about organizing free-to-play soccer programming for newcomer kids in your community is that the vibes are absolutely immaculate.
