This time of year always takes me back to my 18 Spring Trainings ⚾🔥

I remember walking into big league camp with the New York Yankees feeling confident. I had put in the work all offseason and I was ready for my moment. Sharing the field with legends like Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Mariano Rivera, Jason Giambi, Gary Sheffield, Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada, Hideki Matsui, Randy Johnson and even witnessing Robinson Canó’s rookie season was surreal.

I was fighting to make the AAA team. I was ready for a breakout year.

But right before the season started… I got released.

Just like that, the plan changed. I went home for a month. Calling teams. Emailing daily. No guarantees. No income. No backup plan.

Finally, the Chicago White Sox gave me an opportunity — Single A in Winston-Salem. $2,000 a month. A lot different than the $10,000 I thought I’d be making.

No other options. So I took it.

That year with the Winston-Salem Warthogs in the Carolina League (Class A-Advanced), everything changed.

I made a decision as a hitter:
👉 Attack everything I can handle.

The results?
⚾ .332 AVG
⚾ .459 OBP
⚾ .633 SLG
⚾ 1.092 OPS
⚾ 112 runs (led ALL minor leaguers in the nation)
⚾ 38 doubles, 6 triples, 26 HR
⚾ 92 RBI, 24 SB

It became the best year of my career.

The irony? I had my biggest season AFTER getting released.

Analytics weren’t what they are today, so maybe it didn’t get the recognition it would now — but that’s life.

Here’s what Spring Training really taught me:

You don’t control the decision-makers.
You don’t control who believes in you.
You don’t control who doubts you.

You control:
✔️ Your preparation
✔️ Your mindset
✔️ Your effort

And sometimes, getting released is the spark you needed.

If you need a chip on your shoulder… remember the teams that passed on you. Let it fuel you.

Your future isn’t defined by one decision.
But it IS shaped by how you respond.

Please help me congratulate Trenton Burke as he officially takes the next step to continue his athletic and academic career at Kutztown University!
It has been an absolute privilege as his former coach to see his success. Kutztown is getting an absolute competitor and an even better teammate. Can’t wait to watch you dominate at the next level! Go Bears!

🏆 3x GOLD GLOVE WINNER! 🏆

Huge congratulations to Mauricio Dubón on taking home his 3rd Rawlings Gold Glove Award—this time with the Atlanta Braves! 🪓⚾️
Having coached Mauricio early in his minor league career, watching his transformation into one of the most elite, versatile defenders in Major League Baseball has been an absolute privilege.
Winning a Gold Glove at the big league level is a massive achievement—doing it three times across multiple positions as a utility player proves what happens when elite athleticism meets an extraordinary work ethic.
Mauricio has always puts his priorities the first and has mastered every glove he puts on.
So proud of the journey, the continuous grind, and the player and man you’ve become. Keep setting the standard! 🏆🧤🔥🙏🏽☝🏽

Timing the machine isn’t easy—you have to create your own rhythm. 💥

When you’re facing mechanical velocity, every millisecond counts. Dialing in your load against a machine comes down to a few critical focus points:

⚡ 3 KEYS TO MASTERING MACHINE WORK:
1️⃣ Timing: Get started early and slow. The machine doesn’t give you a traditional pitcher’s tempo, so your motion has to be repeatable and smooth.

2️⃣ Direction: Stay centered. Keep your lower half directionally aligned through the middle of the field to avoid pulling off early.

3️⃣ Commitment: Trust your plan. When the ball leaves the chute, lock in and swing with confidence—hesitation leads to weak contact.

Pro tip: A consistent feeder makes all the difference! 😁 Keep your tempo smooth, adjust to the drop point, and make every pitch count—even on a short rack.

Let me know do you like hitting off the machine yes or no?

What does it take to be a great switch hitter?? 💯PRACTICE

One of my regrets in Baseball is not trying to switch hit earlier in my youth and early pro years 🤷🏽‍♂️

If you’re serious about making it in the game, it wouldn’t hurt to try. Throwing is a different story. 😁

these swings look pretty similar, but the body may move slightly different .
One way another keep the mentality the same
