Philippine Bouldering Nationals - 6th 🇵🇭

Going into this I had no expectations whatsoever. I was simply looking at all the gyms that I could go to in the Philippines and stumbled across the competition and decided to join. Had 3 weeks to "train" but mostly treated the competition as "building experience" for the next.

Thinking I was one of the worst climbers competing, I told my family that we only needed the airbnb for Saturday --- the qualifier round --- cause there was no way I would make it into semis, let alone finals on Sunday.

Then I got top 6 in qualis, then top 2 in semis??? I was like what the fuck is happening. There's no way I'm prepared for this yet I'm doing it. I got called the Dark Horse 🐴 as no one knew who I was lmao.

My mindset was the best it ever was. I had the feeling of being super present, not worrying about any consequences, and falls, but simply giving every single attempt my all. No fear, no stress. I felt so calm. I just had so much fun. I felt more calm then my normal boulder sessions. I feel like if there's so much on the line, just give it your all. While this should make me feel more nervous, it doesn't.

The feeling of having my family support me, cheering me on and knowing they were watching. Never experienced that before, it is an amazing feeling. Especially my sister @2k1sofia that came with me to the philippines, cheering me on in the crowd.

It was hard though to be happy right after finals. I missed out of top 3 by 4attempts, missing my chance to be chosen to compete in Bangkok. But I should've been happy right? I had no expectations, and got top 6 in finals, but I just felt disappointed.

Now ofcourse I don't hold that same feeling now, I am happy about how I did, and more importantly just the experience of being there and competing. Cheering on a crowd during a finals comp was like a bucket list item, and its checked! ✅. Hopefully next year I will be competing for Philippine nationals again, this time actually ready.

With skin being limit and wrists not ballin, climb went. Felt so hard last session but felt so much easier today.

Haven't really posted much lately as I've felt that whatever I send is not good enough for me to post. Ive been in the mindset of not being proud of any send unless its the absolute hardest climb I've sent. Progress is still happening however and having joy in progressing rather than always chasing the pr.

This is a climb I enjoyed, while I'm still not "proud" of it, I'm happy with the things it taught me, and the progress I made.
