While preparing for the demo at Annecy / MIFA I got the chance to make a new trailer for ‘When the Moon Sings’ highlighting a lot of the cool ways I used JALI to power the characters from the film!! I realized I never shared this! I’m really excited to keep developing this universe (and others I’m working on) but I’m going in a new direction and focusing on incorporating different animation techniques like 2D into projects. 3D will still be an essential part of my workflow / process but I’ll share more when I can! I’ll try my best to be better at updates! by @nobeefree

I had such an amazing time at Annecy this past week!!! I met so many kind people! Reunited with friends!! Made new friends!! Such a peaceful place! I also did a presentation in which I got to break down how I used JALI during the production of my film, ‘When the Moon Sings’ !!! Got to showcase some new techniques (3D to 2D) in a new series I’m developing too!! Very different to my usual work and I am so grateful for the opportunity!!! Heading to @annecyfestival ? Join us for The Performance Layer with @nobeefree and JALI - a behind-the-scenes look at the making of When the Moon Sings.

After more than a year of collaboration, JALI supported Medina’s evolving process and experimental approach to storytelling, helping bring his vision to screen through performance-driven animation workflows spanning the full production cycle - from character development, previs, and narrative exploration through animation, VFX, revisions, editing, and final renders.

Working under a condensed timeline, Medina used JALI as the performance backbone of the project, providing the flexibility to explore ideas, refine performances, and respond to creative changes while maintaining consistency from development through final delivery.

This session will also preview new experimental hybrid 2D/3D workflows and share practical insights into building agile pipelines for independent and studio productions alike.

It feels so surreal to type this! So excited to share that I’ll be giving a demo session during MIFA @annecyfestival !!! I’ll be breaking down how I used JALI within my film ‘When the Moon Sings’ as well as exploring experimental pipelines in which JALI can assist during the production for both 3D and 2D projects. Been working on a lot of very exciting projects! More news soon! Till then! This WIP is an alternate poster for ‘When the Moon Sings’ as part of my final Lithography project. I am using Cryptomattes to help with Bitmap layers. Very cool stuff! by @nobeefree

What a year! Thank you to everyone that helped this film become a reality! There was a point where I seriously considered abandoning this project all together. So much went into this film and I could not have done this on my own. I know this won’t be the last time I visit this universe. Love it, hate it, it exists! Got to teach a masterclass a few weeks ago, pitched projects to companies, and was able to work with creatives I’ve looked up to for so long! Here’s to another year! Who knows what’ll happen next 👀 by @nobeefree
