Hey there, I’m Emily, the brains behind No Brainer Pottery.
🚫🧠It’s been a hot minute, so I figured I’d re-introduce myself to my new followers!

What I make:My passion is mixing wheel throwing and sculpting to create functional, sculptural, one-of-a-kind pottery. I work in mid-range stoneware, fired in an electric kiln, using a variety of underglazes, glazes, and transfers. Since opening my own community pottery studio, @roundrockcommunityclay, I’ve been working in small batches, usually within a theme — past ones have included food, underwater/ocean, and most recently, aliens.

Life outside the studio:My free time goes to my four kiddos and my newest fur puppy, plus soaking up my city’s art, music, and outdoor scene. I love pulling my community into clay-related hijinks whenever I can — teaching pottery classes, hosting and teaching workshops, and hitting up as many workshops and pottery conventions as I can get myself to, both as a teacher and a student. There’s always something to learn and a million amazing potters and pottery nerds to connect with.

Looking ahead:I adore working in ceramics and sharing the passion with potters all over the world. Over the next five years I’m hoping to do more pottery tourism, expand NBP and the studio, and get my girls through high school. Yikes to all of it! 😅

Thanks for sticking around and sharing in my weird corner of ceramics — every like, share, and comment makes my heart grow. So much more to come

Witch #facemug number one turned out so fun! I wasn’t sure about the poisoned apple handle but the Speedball underglazes are so bright, the matchy teal tree made it pretty magical🪄
And check out dat baby skull apple🥹👶🏻💀🍎
I’m currently obsessed with @speedball_ceramics mid range glaze called “Galaxy Mist” because who doesn’t like teal and purple?!💜🩵💜
I will have 4 available for purchase, along with 6 cauldrons Friday October 30th at 8am central.

Can I just complain for a sec? I’ve had this snake in my head for a hot minute and of course the moment I need the snake skin texture roller I *specifically had in my head that I own from @mkmpotterytools … it goes missing ahhhhhh the joys of owning a community pottery studio!
This is Uroboros 2

WIP on another #facejug
Still sour about Pedro Pascal not being in the next season of #thelastofus but whatevs it’s still an amazing series
I think I chose the wrong shape vessel for this guy because he is a little too healthy and round and fat in da cheeks.
Still playing with it tho! This was a 15lb vessel. Go big or go home!
