Over the past few months, Van Meter Family Farms has been doing what small farms are supposed to do:
🌱 Sharing our growing journey
🌱 Posting photos and videos from the farm
🌱 Responding to comments and messages
🌱 Connecting with our community
🌱 Growing our audience organically
We don’t buy followers. We don’t use bots. We don’t spam people.
Yet Instagram recently restricted our business account and denied our appeal, preventing us from running ads and using several business tools.
We’re honestly not sure what policy they believe we’ve violated. Everything we’ve built has been through hard work, authentic content, and genuine engagement with people who care about local farming and local food.
We’re continuing to post, grow, and serve our community, but it’s frustrating to see a small family farm lose access to tools that help us reach customers and support our business.
If you’ve enjoyed following our journey, the best thing you can do is keep liking, commenting, sharing, and telling your friends about Van Meter Family Farms.
At the end of the day, no algorithm grows tomatoes, blueberries, pumpkins, or herbs. Farmers do.

Pruning blueberries isn’t just yard work—it’s setting up your harvest months in advance.
Every cut matters. You’re opening up the plant for sunlight, airflow, and stronger growth. Cut out the old, weak, and overcrowded canes so the plant can focus its energy where it counts—new shoots that will actually produce.
Rule of thumb:
✂️ Remove dead or damaged wood
✂️ Thin out older canes (anything 5–6 years old)
✂️ Keep the center open so light can get in
It feels a little ruthless in the moment, but trust me… this is where the magic starts. Bigger berries. Better yield. Healthier plants.
Do the work now, and your future self (and your summer snack game) will thank you 🫐🔥
