HYPERNORMAL - ARTEFACTS OF OUR TIME

"Its just going to get weirder, and weirder, and weirder, when finally it is going to be so weird, that people will have to talk about how weird it is" - Terence Mckenna, 1998  Well, Mckenna... it got weird. Our world has evolved into absurdity. Innovations that continuously push both utopian and dystopian extremes, have learned to slip under the veil of our normality. We live in an age, in which the "hyper" has turned "normal". As a result, our species is left with a profoundly bizarre impact on our habits and the way we relate to the world around us.  My sculptures are metaphors in modern-day packaging, posing as "products" of our time. Through conversation with my work, I aim to confront the absurd and prick a hole in its eccentric, synthetic camouflage. taken in Oudenoord 700 by @noel.doodeman

@noel.doodeman carved The High Priestess for The Visionary’s Tarot, a collaborative @clbhuis deck featuring 78 artists and 78 cards. 🌒

This card is about intuition, inner knowing, and what can’t be explained with logic alone. In Noël’s hands, it becomes a carved portal: etched in wood, layered with hidden language, and burning with mystery. The High Priestess doesn’t speak loudly. She asks you to sense your way forward. 🌀

Noël is a surrealist illustrator and mixed-media artist whose work spirals through tension, absurdity, and the allure of the unknown. Every carving, every detail, is part of a growing universe that connects the spiritual and the strange. We’re honored to have Noël as part of ours.
