Father, son, human being

they shot him in front of his mother 10 times. imagine the psychological, emotional, physical agony his mother is forced to endure on top of the weight she has to bear by solely being a black woman existing in america. on top of it all, she has to witness her child be murdered, crying out for her, on loop because we are now so desensitized to circulating videos of dead Black people. justice will be served for ALL those slaughtered by police. dismantling police and reimagining what it means to have public safety is indispensable. Walter Wallace may be alive right now if a mental health professional or social worker or ANYONE that is trained to deescalate situations were available rather than police officers who only know how to subdue and murder at the sight of Black skin.

How much time do you want for your progress? How many deaths do you need for your progress? No matter the answer, Black people have given way too much. The time for progress is now.

I hope Walter’s mother and family find the strength to keep moving forward. I cannot fathom the pain felt. #ripwalterwallacejr
