guess who got a preview of gta6 before gta6? 🙋🏼‍♀️(i know, wtf) so, a few months back, i went on a top-secret mission to visit rockstar north, the edinburgh-based outpost of @rockstargames and home of GTA, to get my brain melted and see what was under the skin of the apex predator of video games, one of the world’s biggest and most influential entertainment properties of all time, and come november, what will be THE biggest entertainment launch of the decade.

now that the @netflix extended preview has dropped, i can finally talk about it and reveal some of the juicy details. and i cannot overstate how crazy this game is going to be.

here’s a few key snippets of the australian-exclusive story, but i implore everyone to go read it in full over at @esquire.australia ‘s website — i talk about the open world, the NPCs, the development, the research, the size and the cultural impact of GTA!

it’s maybe the most complex, pinch-myself feature i’ve had to pull together, in terms of the scope of the game, its legacy and what the dev team shared with me. and still, i had to leave a lot on the literal cutting room floor (final slide gives you some idea of my process). so everyone will be hearing from me more on this!

HUGE thank you to esquire for taking this piece and eternal gratitude to @rockstargames for working with me for almost two years (!!!) in order to make this happen. 🙏🏻

seen enough photos of the radical and polarising @ferrari luce? eh what’s a few more; this time from behind the scenes of the luce’s launch with your most unreliable unit** of measurement for scale. 💁🏼‍♀️

a couple of years ago, when a birdy first told me on the dl that ferrari was enlisting sir jony ive (aka the man who shaped apple’s design ethos alongside steve jobs) and legendary australian industrial designer marc newson to craft its very first fully electric sports car (instead of using ferrari’s internal centro stile design studio), i was pretty shocked and immediately had a lot of thoughts. mainly:
1. i was skeptical it would ever evolve from concept. 2. i knew that if it did, it would carry within it a great deal of symbolism around the future of luxury performance. 3. what is a modern ferrari without the guiding hand of the wonderful @flaviomanzoni? could it even still be one?!

and well, here is a production ferrari that looks more like a concept and indeed a car that beyond its polarising looks, is dripping in meaning, innovation and thinking. and is nothing like any ferrari to exist.

having just spent three days lucemaxxing in workshops, presentations, interviews and research with ferrari and lovefrom in rome (and still mentally processing it all🫠) i can say there is a LOT more going on with this car beyond its exterior.

there are a lot of big feels on the internet about the luce right now, but IMO this is a car that needs to be explained and uncovered bit by bit to be understood —which is a weird statement that carries irony because i don’t believe ferraris should ever need to be explained. BUT this is something so new and futuristic, i suppose it’s the exception.

luce isn’t for everyone. but part of its purpose is to shatter existing cliches for a new clientele. it’s not taking over ferrari’s design language, it’s not setting future car intentions, it’s not replacing anything! it’s a whole new idea of what a ferrari can be in an insanely cerebral future-tense.

as per, if you want my opinions, insights and research you’ll have to read them in print. ya girl has a lot of thinking to do after this. 😏

AUSTRALIA’S NEXT F1 WORLD CHAMPION! 🏁 ask anybody in motorsport right now who they’ve got their eye on to be future world champion and i guarantee nine times out of ten, their answer will include @oscarpiastri.

not only is the australian @mclaren pilot the first and only driver to win all three championship series below @f1 consecutively, the first rookie to lead a F1 race in over a decade, the first to qualify on a gp front row since 2010, he has also got his head down and is doing the work. no showbiz, no bullshit, no faff, just focus. 🧡

with the @ausgp just a week away, i am SO excited to reveal this digital cover story + shoot for @esquire.australia bc i truly believe we are watching a future wdc in action. why? read the profile via the link in my bio or pick it up in print in the latest issue 💁🏼‍♀️

huge thank you to Oscar, team @mclaren and @aussiegrit for the time they put into talking with me and making this happen, and my editor @yeayea.nah for listening to months of my team piastri rants and entrusting me with this one. 🏁

she’s landed! last week, the @ferrari luce finally made its way down under to embark on a mini tour, starting with an appearance @ferrarisydneyofficial.

for a very special design-focused evening hosted by @thelocalproject, i humbly joined @ferrariaustralasia president michele comelli, design legend @studiohenrywilson and TLP’s editor @milthwaites on stage to talk about jony ive, @marcnewsonofficial and the wider lovefrom team’s design intention, the innovation and engineering under the skin of the luce and all things world of the prancing horse.

thank you sm to the TLP team, millie who did an incredible job of moderating and ferrari for having me. hardly work, as i have such a fascination with this car and will never tire of yapping about it.

you can read my big luce feature in the next issue of the local project, or pick up the current one where i talk about the lush ferrari amalfi, in a purely coincidental ferrari x tlp double up! 🏎️

up close with the @porscheaus 911 turbo s land down under. to celebrate 75 years of porsche in australia, porsche oz dropped this one of one turbo s, a beautifully detailed creation imagined by @porsche’s sonderwunsch bespoke “special request” program and south african born and raised artist @werner_bronkhorst, who has called australia home since 2020.

note all the hand painted tropes + characters by werner (including the huntsman under the visor- a canon event for every aussie), the stitched star map above the uluru night sky when porsche arrived in oz, queensland silly oak woodgrains and the gorgeous dual chromaflair paint in terra australis red and southern cross blue, the first of its kind on a porsche. 🦘

i am once again carl sagen/moon maxxing! though, this time via an essay about the emotional and historic nasa artemis ii mission and the overview effect, and how its at odds with the horrors of the world around us. all for my dear friends @astrophemagazine.

something i had been thinking about since i wrote this piece, is the speed and impact of daily distractions, which hit us so often and so hard, that this historic, optimistic moment of splendour now seems so long ago. therefore, finding ones’s moon joy is a conscious act.

a moment for the incredible opening spread image by @original.sim1 !!!💫 and thanks to sim and @saladspoonies + the astrophe team for having me.

issue 6 is an incredible examination of existence and perception, and its filled with so much talent, new ideas and really fresh editorials. support indie print and go pick it up over on astrophemagazine.com 🌙 by @noelleflamingo

shapes and views and sounds of the supernatural, naturally aspirated (and fully exposed!!) v12 hybrid @lamborghini revuelto. i took this out on the il pistino run, one of my fave roads, behind modena at golden hour. 🤌🏻
a magnificent weapon of theatre, control and high drama, and one of the best rearview mirror vistas of them all.

i’m constantly so impressed by all the current super hybrid super cars, a show of what happens new technologies and restrictions force the hand of innovation. also, a moment, please, for this gradient paint by lambo’s ad personal customisation arm. 🔥 bella macchina; high emotions.

it’s the @f1 summer break! so here’s some intel to tie us all over: a piece i wrote for @esquire.australia on @visacashapprb ‘s clever youth-centric, meme heavy and creator-friendly social media strategy. you can read this online over @ esquire.com.au

this was such a delight to write because i’ve been obsessed with RB’s socials and cool collabs, and truly loved chatting with team ceo peter bayer, whose career across f1, the fia, the youth olympic games, music, culture and snowboarding makes him the best placed man to lead the red bull junior team across every facet of business and sport. 🏎️

today’s do as i say and not as i do lesson (and one i never seem to learn!), + second rule of italian grand turismo club: if you’re in a supercar in regional italy, do not follow the signs to ‘centro’, a tight squeeze always awaits. 🙃

the magnificent @ferrari 849 testarossa, a 4.0l v8 hybrid in all its 1050 horses. a car i was unsure about when i first saw the photos (though i’ve always said would make an epic lego set due to its blocky angles) but is truly a staggering work of design and engineering mastery up close, and a driver x machine experience which i can only describe as coaxed symbiosis- something i’ve also felt in the 296GTB, though this is a LOT of car.

By now, we are all aware of the stats — women make up 42 percent of total F1 fandom and 74 percent of all new fans.

More fans are entering the sport through personal connection, lifestyle alignments, and modern media channels but the way we consume sport has diversified into something more intimate. No longer is F1 the province of a single TV that a household gathers around. No longer are fandoms tethered to team logos and passed down through the generations. Formula 1 has become dynamic, personality-driven, and online-native.

Therefore, as fans, we are demanding more from the sport than ever, and if we don’t get it, we will take it upon ourselves to define what the sport can mean. What feels significant now, though, is brands are finally waking up to meet us all in the middle.

Enter: the cute-ification of F1. Read the full story online at the link in bio and in Issue 06.

inside and outside the kasbah télouet in télouet, a remote berber village in the high atlas mountains of ouuazzazate, which we stopped off at during our enormous polestar 5 morocco road trip a few weeks back.

also known as the palais du glaoui, this crumbling kasbah was once the home to the most powerful man in morocco, thami el glaoui —the infamous lord of the atlas and pasha of marrakesh (yes, watch nerds, the man who commissioned the cartier pasha). prior to his fall from grace as a traitor to his country, who sided with the french amid morocco’s independence in 1956, this palace was a place of incredible opulence and power, housing a harem of over 100 women and entertaining the likes of churchill, charlie chaplin and more. a major ‘if these walls could talk’ kind of place.

s/o to our legend of a guide, rashid, who owns the local berber coop and opened the kasbah up for us and jokingly adopted me into his harem for a few hours, on the day of eid al-adha too! 🙏🏻 taken in Kasbah de Télouet by @noelleflamingo
