I titled this photograph „Burning Longing.“At first, the sky showed only the faintest hint of color. I stood there with my camera, longing for it to burst into flames. I’ve always loved dramatic, fiery skies.To me, they reflect the deep longing in my heart for the beauty and glory of God’s presence, far beyond the brokenness and cruelty of this world.And then, the colors finally appeared. They reminded me of the promise we have in Jesus. Even here on earth, those who put their trust in Him can already experience glimpses of His kingdom, His nearness, and His grace. I call this image “Knowing Your Worth.”Social media often teaches us to chase worth through recognition and self-promotion. But this encounter with an Alpine ibex revealed something entirely different.He walked towards me with quiet confidence, majestic yet unaware of his own magnificence. He wasn’t trying to be seen or to impress. Yet everything about him reflected the beauty and glory of his Creator.Standing there, I forgot everything around me. All I could see was God’s majesty reflected in His creation. It gave me goosebumps.The most breathtaking parts of creation don’t compete for attention. Whether it’s an ibex with its impressive horns or a chamois with golden eyes, they simply exist as they were created to be. Two lessons I’m taking from 2025:1️⃣ Trust God’s plan, even when suddenly everything turns out completely different — I never imagined I’d end up in my dream job as a social deacon in youth ministry. God led me to a place full of fulfillment, with the best team and people who feel like family, where I can use all my gifts and pour my heart into meaningful work.2️⃣ Don’t let achievement define your joy. I’ve stepped back from planning a photography business — a painfully difficult decision — realizing I had tied too much of my happiness and identity to achievement. Whether it’s the mountains we climb in life or the Swiss Alps themselves, the right gear makes all the difference.
