This guy right here— Mariiiito, Ma-Ri-ohhhhh!, my “adopted little brother,” Mario— got married this past weekend.

I’ve had the fortune of counting you as my self-baptized “adopted little brother” for about 14 years now, but as family for 30.
From chasing butterflies and picking wildflowers “en el Tio Rufino” (leading to angry BabyMario biting the shit out of me), to spending an all-nighter at Cancun nightclubs after our hotel caught fire and left us room-less… to somehow turning into a touring Guitar Hero super duo (haaa!), to colluding with you to win some crazy Texas Hold ‘em tourneys (my short time living a life of crime… jk jk)— my memories with you are many, and the VAST majority are just great, gut-busting, times.
Thank you for that.
My crazy little brother who helped my shy, reserved self bust out of her shell and enjoy life, the moment, and forget what others may think or say— thank you for that.
My thoughtful little brother who at any time of the day would be available to give me words of encouragement via MSN messenger (fuck, we’re old, dawg! Ha) when feeling like a complete failure at life— thank you for that.

Thank you for inviting me to accompany you and your wonderful bride, Romina, on one of the most important days of your lives— it was an absolute honor and joy. There is so much relief and peace knowing you found your person who completes you, elevates you, motivates you and above all, loves you (Bro! And she even gets you to “tone it down a bit”… she is magical! Lol)… you two are more than deserving of that beautiful companionship and love.

This past week was a dream— the love and care was palpable, and evenly distributed TO and AMONG all of us present— thank you both for that.

This is one of my best friends— Kyle.
We met freshman year at UNLV. I noticed we had three back-to-back-to-back classes, and after a few days, did something completely out of character for me: I reached out to him in class and struck up a conversation; I was going to befriend this homeboy. I proceeded to make him laugh (probably with my usual inappropriate observation), and we became friends almost instantly.
He was kind, and witty (razor sharp with the jokes), but especially eloquent. I’d find myself asking him random questions just to hear him use the cool words I usually fucked up in English class, used in the correct context. We were both also somewhat moody and sad— he gifted me the soundtrack to my 20’s: Sad Songs for Sad Bastards.

A lot of shit goes down in 17 years— ups and downs, laughs and tears, retiring and un-retiring from Halloween (ha)… and so much music.
He has been one of my voices of reason during confusing times, and I can only hope I’ve reciprocated in kind.

This weekend I joined him as he married the girl who changed his smile.
He once asked me if it was “too fast to fall for someone,” and as I thought back to the smile that appeared on his face before even mentioning a thing about her, I told the truth: not at all.
Bailey— the person Kyle is around you, because of you, is the happy Kyle I always knew he could be, the happy Kyle I always knew existed in that emo-loving kid from Freshman year. You bring it out in him instantly, constantly, fearlessly… permanently.

I’m not much of a talker, and when I try, I cry and lose my concentration so it’s not a sight anyone needs to see. I’m socially awkward, but I had to somehow put my true sentiments out there (so writing’s the thing, ha) and let the world know I wish you two the most fulfilling, and loving marriage you both deserve. May you both alway, always, ALWAYS bring out this smile on each other’s face.

Eventful year Two for this (fire)ball of energy. Kid has me screaming “No!” every other minute… and he talks my ear off all day, every day… but he also shows me just how much my heart can grow. I love the fucking shit out of you, my little guy (now please give momma a break… don’t do none of this Tumultuous Three type shit. Let’s keep it like, Tidy Three… Tierno Tres… something like that, please, I beg. I’m tired, homie)

2020 was weird as hell.
This guy chose a weird year to complete my family, but I am grateful nonetheless.
My bubbly grouch... with a smile as big and dorky as his momma’s, but an appetite that beats the rest of ours combined.

Today was technically supposed to be his birthday, but he wanted to copy his older bro and force his way into the world at week 37.

Sorry for the lack of updates, it was just a horrible pregnancy, dramatic delivery, and now a shitty recovery.
