💌 HOOK: I’ve [experience that gives you authority], and the one thing I tell every client is [advice your ideal clients need to hear]

📝 EXAMPLE: I’ve rewritten 200+ sales pages, and the one thing I tell every client is to stop apologising for the price in the first paragraph. Read the caption. ⬇️

💌 HOOK: I wish someone had told me [action your ideal clients regularly do thinking it's working] is actually [negative consequence they’re trying to avoid]

📝 EXAMPLE: I wish someone had told me that sending a detailed 6-page proposal is actually giving potential clients 6 pages of reasons to say “let me think about it.”

💌 HOOK: money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy not having to do [task you help your clients with that they hate doing]

📝 EXAMPLE: money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy not having to open a spreadsheet named “FINAL_final_v3”

Social media has taught us to prioritize engagement as if it’s some magic pill that will make all your business woes disappear, but always striving for engagement + grading posts based on only engagement is making you leave money on the table.

For example, posts that get you new clients/sell your offers are talking to one specific person about one specific problem, so of course they get fewer likes than a reel meme meant to be shared with people.

But if you look at both posts and grade them just based on how much engagement they got, you’d think you need to pivot your business towards just making memes.

And I get it. It’s really easy to get discouraged when you look at a post and it has 2 likes, but it’s important to zoom out and look at what the goal of the post was before making any decisions on whether or not the post flopped.

Was the post meant to warm up your audience and make them ready to buy? Or maybe it was meant to just flat-out sell your offer? Then the fact that the post got 2 likes is actually a good thing, because the ‘engagement’ was people clicking the link in your bio to go look at + buy your offer. by @nofilterdigital

how to give ‘value’ in your posts ↓
Your best-fit clients have seen a million educational posts from a million of your peers, so they don’t want to see another “how to” post.

What they do want to see is:

→ something that changes how they look at their problem/desires
→ your perspective on a topic & why it’s different than the norm
→ pointing out the thing secretly keeping them stuck, even tho they think it’s helping
→ connect symptoms with the root cause (that they don’t know is causing them issues)
→ posts that make them feel hyped af to work towards their goals
→ posts that make them feel seen & understood

Content like that ^ is rare on IG, so you’ll stand out from the sea of your peers, it can’t easily be googled, and you can’t ask AI for it - aka it’s content that makes you irreplaceable. by @nofilterdigital

So many online service providers make content planning seem like SUCH a hard thing, when it can actually be really simple!!

It’s only hard if:
🫠 you think every post needs to be ~groundbreaking~
🫠 your content planning sessions start with a good ol’ “scroll for inspo” or going through your never-ending saved folder of content inspo
🫠 you wait until inspiration strikes to sit down & plan (which it never does ofc)
🫠 you plan one post at a time and then have to keep doing it over and over for the entire month

But if you use a cool lil’ system for content planning like this one, then it only takes one (semi-short) sitting & a cup of coffee. 😌

💌 HOOK: If you want [desire], doing [what they're currently doing] is not going to get you there.
📝 EXAMPLE: If you want your team to stop relying on you, answering every Slack ping in real time is not going to get you there.

💌 HOOK: If [overused industry promise] worked, my clients wouldn’t pay me for [results].
📝 EXAMPLE: If $10 templates built 6-figure brands, my clients wouldn’t pay me 4 figures for one logo.

💌 HOOK: [hyperspecific mistake] is why you feel like [hyper-specific negative feeling/misconception]
📝 EXAMPLE: Writing your sales emails the night before a launch is why you feel like “email doesn’t work.”

social media marketing has a "should" problem

every marketing person has their own methodology that they believe in wholeheartedly (which is amazing ofc), but as a non-marketer, that means you open Instagram and get told that you:

→ should post daily OR shouldn’t post daily
→ should show your face allll the time OR shouldn’t show your face
→ should niche down OR shouldn’t pick a niche at all
→ should chase virality OR should forget about it entirely
→ should post a million trial reels OR should ignore them

I got exhausted just writing those, so I can imagine what it’s like for your Explore page to flip-flop like that.

Howeveeeeeer, social media content can be whatever you want it to be, and that’s one of my favourite parts about it.

The "should" advice you come across most likely isn’t wrong, but it worked for the person selling it because it fit their capacity, niche, personality, etc. & then it got repackaged as a universal rule instead of a personal preference.

So when you come across a million different pieces of conflicting advice, the question isn't "which method is correct?" it's "which of these fits how I want to run my business & my content." Some people are gonna thrive posting daily & showing their face 24/7, and some are gonna do better posting twice a week from behind a carousel. Both categories of people can get the same growth & sales.

Steal hooks for all three ↓

💌 IDENTITY CONTENT HOOKS
→ If you’re looking for [industry buzzword or hyped promise you don't agree with], I’m not your person.
→ You’ll never see me promoting [something your peers preach].
→ Don’t hire me if you think [belief you don’t agree with].

💌 VALUE CONTENT HOOKS
→ [action they’re making, thinking it’s getting them closer to their goal] is the fastest way to [undesired result they’re trying to escape]
→ If you want [desire], don’t listen to advice telling you to [common industry advice they’re listening to].
→ [Something seemingly beneficial] is actually distracting you from [desire].

💌 PROOF CONTENT HOOKS
→ In my world, it’s totally normal to [amazing result your dream clients dream of]
→ My client wanted [goal], but we made [big, unexpected outcome] happen instead.
→ People hire me for [core expertise], but they stay because [unexpected, deeper benefit they experience from working with you].

I often talk about experimenting with your content (because it makes it more fun and it’s a great marketing practice for a million reasons), but experimenting only works if your messaging & positioning aren’t repetitive.

Your content being repetitive is why you can
→ start posting a million trial reels
→ completely redesign all your posts
→ get pretty new branding photos
→ copy every trending hook format that exists
→ post at a different time every day
etc. etc.

And your posts still flop. It's because the messaging is the same and you’re just changing the vehicle.

So before you add one more format/trend/hook/etc. to your to-do list, figure out what part of your messaging isn't landing with your ideal clients first. The vehicle you use to get that message across is then just a lil cherry on top of a perfect content strategy. 🍒 by @nofilterdigital

we’re not on LinkedIn, and you’re allowed to have fun

you can put away your [whatever piece of clothing screams "business" to you], because we’re not here to talk about what a normal human experience taught us about b2b marketing (iykyk) 🙃

at it’s core, Instagram is supposed to be a creative platform, and no matter how many gurus want to turn it into a hell where you spend literally all of your time making as much content as you possibly can, I’m standing on business that Instagram can and should be fun!!

Because being hyperfocused on making “strategic” content is the fastest way to:
👉🏻 making content feel like a chore, so you never want to do it
👉🏻 boring your community into automatically skipping your posts
👉🏻 stripping every ounce of your personality out of content so you just sound like AI
👉🏻 dreading even opening the app

it really doesn’t have to be like that ^, but you have to stop taking content so seriously first

Creating endless how-to posts doesn't build the authority that most people think it does, because it positions you like Wikipedia/a Google search/AI instead of the main-character expert you are.

On the other hand, diagnostic content does what educational content wishes it could: it clocks your best-fit client’s habits/behaviors/beliefs/etc., validates their everyday frustration, and triggers that instant "okay wtf how do I fix these problems NOW??? 👀" feeling.

You can look at the difference in a super simple way:
👉🏻 educational content targets logic & delivers information
👉🏻 diagnostic content targets emotions and the deeper layer of life, habits, beliefs, etc.

Anyone can look up answers to their questions, so education has completely lost its spark on social media. But when you switch to diagnostic content, your best-fit clients feel SO insanely seen, called out, and validated that buying isn't even a debate anymore. They realize they’re stuck and see the nuances as to why, they see that you *get* them, and hiring you becomes the only logical next step.

There's nothing wrong with mingling with your peers, but don't slide down this slippery slope. 👇🏻

you get a lot of engagement from your peers
⬇️
your insights don’t tell you what your target audience wants to see, because all the data it has is based on what your peers are responding to
⬇️
you start creating more content for your peers, because that’s what the insights are telling you to do
⬇️
your content attracts more of your peers and distances you from who you’re actually trying to reach

of course, don't just start ignoring people in your industry, because community matters a lot, but if your posts are only attracting your peers (like, your best-fit clients are nowhere in sight), it’s a huge red flag that your content strategy isn’t built for the people who will buy your offers / book your services.
