Last Weeks Dia de Muertos Workshop was amazing 💀🌹!

Surrounded by family and friends we enjoyed a meaningful night with lots of laughs and lots of photographs 📸🙏🏽

A big thank you to our Catrina models! We couldn’t have done this without you. You all showed up and showed out and truly were so beautiful 😍

On Dia de Muertos celebrants believe that the gates of Heaven, or the veil between worlds, open at midnight on October 31st. The spirits of children (angelitos) arrive on November 1st, and adult spirits arrive on November 2nd, where they reunite with their families and loved ones. ❤️

Rooted in ancient Mesoamerican traditions, death is viewed not as a final end, but as a natural step in a continuous circular journey. 🌱

Tradition holds that a person truly passes only when they are forgotten. Remembering loved ones through stories, names, and laughter keeps their energy alive. 🙏🏽✨

With that said, I am sad to say this is the end of my workshop series. ❤️‍🩹 I am so proud and happy for the opportunity to have brought together the photography community in Wilmington. Thank you @avalonartsca for believing and providing space for artists like myself to create something so meaningful for the community.

I hope to see everyone continue to be creative outside of the workshop. Please shoot everything and anything that you find intriguing, meaningful, beautiful, weird and everything in between 🤓 The only shot that’s not a good shot is the one you choose not to take! So go for it. Capture all the memories big or small.

Avalon Arts will continue to have Clikas y Flikas film cameras for sale as well as the backdrop for rent. Please support and book with them for photo use. 🙏🏽

Signing Out & Forever grateful,

Good Morning Clikas y Flikas Familia! 🌞

Tomorrow, Thursday 08.06.26

✨ Open Editing Hall Thursday ✨
We’re turning tomorrow’s workshop into an Open Editing Hall. This will be our space to hang out, edit, share, and inspire one another.

We’ll revisit our favorite images from the Avalon Snap n’ Stroll Workshop, talk about framing, composition, and storytelling, and give each other thoughtful feedback along the way. Whether you’re working on your final edit or just seeing your photos with fresh eyes, this is all about building skills, exploring new ideas, and growing together as photographers.

Bring your laptop, tablet, coffee, water, or your favorite editing setup, settle in, and enjoy the creative flow. Come for the edits, stay for the conversation, and leave inspired. 📸✨ taken in Avalon Arts & Cultural Alliance by @noir.mija

a few slides from our work shop with @avalonartsca @wilmingtonartwalk @noir.mija

shooting photos with analog cameras will help you learn the basic functions of using a camera and proper exposure, i think it’s the best way to learn

different films do different things, film speeds (asa) (iso) correlate to the lighting and your in camera exposure

this is what i use to hand develop film

these are the three scanners i’ve used and the difference in scan colors/detail
