One of many lovely views on a hiking tour from Glenbrittle along the
the Fairy Pools, passing the Sligachan Waterfalls, finally approaching
Carbost, the sky still cloudy, but no more rain.

Some things don‘t change~ as this lovely row of bright- coloured
houses lining the waterfront at the Harbour of Portree/Isle of Skye.
From 1994 (there was no bridge,yet - you set over by Cal Mac ferry)
until 2011 we often stayed two/three days on the Isle of Skye before
going by car ferry from Uig to the Isle of Harris for a longer summer
holiday.
Over the years Skye became more and more popular, great sights as
the Old Man of Storr, Neist Point etc. are very crowded, but when you
go beyond those spots, you‘ll still find peaceful, lonesome places and
hiking trails.
This year I spent a longer time on the Isle of Skye to enjoy the beauty
of its landscape on hiking tours.

My roses have been in full bloom since May, but we had a few very
windy days with sudden heavy downpours in June - many of the
blossoms wilted very quickly, as they couldn‘t withstand the weather.
I gathered them up, and arranged them in a basket, so I could continue
to enjoy their beauty🍃🌹💖🍃

📍 Carraig Fhada Lighthouse, Port Ellen, Islay

One of those places that feels almost untouched by time.

At the southern tip of Islay, Carraig Fhada Lighthouse stands on a rocky islet overlooking Kilnaughton Bay. White against the sea, it has guided sailors through these waters since the 1830s, becoming one of the island’s most recognisable landmarks.

The golden light, the ferry crossing the Sound of Islay, the quiet beaches and endless skies—this corner of Scotland feels wonderfully remote, yet deeply welcoming.

The kind of place that stays with you long after you've left.

Some final photos of Carraig Fhada Lighthouse and Kilnaughton Bay
on the west side of the bay on the Isle of Islay/ Inner Hebrides, Scotland.
A sunny view on Kilnaughton Bay ~ swipe for more photos~

-(pic 1/2/3/4/5“grey day/grey mood“/pic6) The lighthouse, unique with its
square towers, sits on a rocky headland overlooking Kilnaughton Bay.
It is not open to tourists, but you can walk on a path right up to the base
which can be submerged during high tides or bad weather.
-(pic7/8) Kilnaughton Old Churchyard,situated just above the shore area
offers breathtaking views toward the neighbouring lighthouse.
-(pic9) window view from cottage + CalMac Ferry passing by.

The footpath to the lighthouse is not yet accessible, but first sunny
spells are appearing after a very stormy and rainy night at
Carraig Fhada Lighthouse - a very characteristic lighthouse with
two square towers connected to each other (established 1832).
