🏆 won gold for directing at the @tellyawards. I highly recommend working with a creative team that says “yes” when you want to shoot half of their commercial in black and white. Every college football game I’ve ever watched led to this moment with @ESPN and @tacobell 🌮 for the @cfbplayoff 🏆🏈. It’s not often I get to go back home for a shoot, include my sister @mattie_cg and her friends as background, and have my mom sitting with me at video village. What a gift this day was. 🏈🏆🌮 A couple things to share about this project with @ESPN x @tacobell… I love putting together an ensemble that is willing to play and create within the sandbox you give them. Actors who are more than just figurines you pose. As a director, you don’t always hit this mark — for many reasons inside and outside your control. This time I really think we did. Such a great cast. And, on the visuals, I love the mix of mediums we selected and the perspective we chose: I wanted to film the pre-playoff portions of the spot as if some film student was shooting a hype film of their friend group over one season. Like the highlight videos so many of us got our start doing back in high school — for whatever school sports team was willing to let some wannabe film kid like me take a crack at it. Shout out @capturetheconte and @stackmaddy for the personal, handmade feeling of the frames and the design that fills them. And also @erikklein.me for packaging all that collective feeling into something cohesive in the edit. Keep swiping to see the spot if you haven’t caught it yet. Turned a black and white nightmare into a world of color 🌈 for @turo Created with an amazing crew in Barcelona, and in partnership with the one-of-a-kind brand trio of @classic_ricki, @megnatt, and @estevan__padilla. This was such a satisfying script to crack alongside them. Thanks to @jenna_huskisson for making my black and white dreams (well, nightmares) come true. And, the edit + music was just such a perfect fusion between @scootpequeno and @sebastianfritze. We wanted to find the discordant glee of the best Jon Brion scores, and Seb smashed it.
