We love Bologna for the tortellini in cream, the parmigiano, and the many different bottles of Lambrusco.

Last year we toured @cantinapaltrinieri, the 100-year-old family producer behind some of the most awarded Lambruscos in Italy. Unlike the cloyingly sweet bottles that get exported, we tried eight styles from light and refreshing to pet-nat styles.

We’re spending a week studying this properly, region by region, Italy and the world, at our WSET Level 3 wine education retreat (October 8 to 15).

When European summer comes to an end, we prepare for winters in Asia.

Moments from our favorite stay in Bali, Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Ubud.

The property transports you to a secluded jungle paradise, with a river running through the grounds, an infinity pool that drops off into rice fields, and dinners in a private bamboo nest hanging over the water.

Ritz-Carlton only has a handful of Reserves in the world and this is the one worth the flight.

In less than 3 weeks, we’ll be taking the WSET Wine Level 3 course at a Michelin-recommended clifftop villa on the Portuguese coast, tasting 100+ wines with the ocean right outside our window.

Over 7 nights (Oct 8 to 15) we’ll be taught privately by a WSET Level 4 Diploma holder specialized in teaching Level 3, Wine Ambassador to Portugal and co-author of The Portuguese Vineyard and Wine Book.

And when you’re not in classes, you’ll enjoy private chef Portuguese meals, nights out in Lisbon and Cascais, rejuvenation time with beaches, sauna circuits and outdoor pool dips in the balmy October afternoons. Come home after vacation with your certification instead of a full calendar of city centre evening classes.
