In August 2026, U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins formally proposed rescinding the 2001 Roadless Rule nationwide, which would eliminate protections for 45 million acres of federal forestland, including Washington's 2 million acres.

I cannot imagine life if any of our protected lands lose that protection. Please take a minute of your time to tell lawmakers why we need these laws to stay in place.

Been watching the whale locator app waiting for a pod to return to the southern puget sound and crossing my fingers for a much closer pass when a pod does head this way. These far away photos do them no justice but it was so cool seeing Jack, the T036s and their babies a couple of weekends ago. I can't explain why I suddenly discovered so much interest in killer whales but they really are so interesting to learn about and beautiful beyond words. I just love them!❤️❤️❤️🫍

So very blessed to live in a place where killer whales also call home. Spent the weekend trying to get a close pass with these Orcas but they are fast and unpredictable.

Jack T137A with his family made up two babies, his grandma, aunt and cousins the T063s and T063bs are the orcas seen over the weekend in the southern puget sound waters most recently! 💧🫍🩵

Just when I felt like there was no hope in spotting the orcas today, they showed up! Went down to Steilacoom and waited almost 2 hours and just when I thought they were deep in a island, we started seeing spouts! This is first time seeing them with the naked eye and makes me that much more excited to hopefully get to see them up close. I'm not sure which pod these 4 belong to exactly but they are transiet biggs mammal eating orcas. The more I learn about them, the more fascinating they become! They are smart, social and very family oriented, just like humans. The ultimate apex predators of the ocean yet sentinent beings all at the same time!🩷🫍 #orcas #bigsskillerwhales #Biggs #washingtonstate #sunset by @nomadic._mama_

It is so cool finding places that are quiet. The places not over ran with social media posts and those that are always geo tagged. Having two different alpine lakes to camp at so far this summer with not a single other person around, has been pretty amazing! It doesn't get more peaceful than that!
